Sir Ridley Scott isn't quite finished dreaming of electric sheep just yet. Speaking to Digital Spy, the director of 1982's Blade Runner and executive producer of 2017's sequel Blade Runner 2049, revealed he has plans for another film in the franchise.
When asked whether there was scope for a new film in the Blade Runner franchise, Scott responded: "I hope so... I think there is another story. I've got another one ready to evolve and be developed so there is certainly one to be done for sure."
Scott's response is particularly interesting because of how Blade Runner 2049 fared financially. The Denis Villeneuve-directed sequel was met with praise by both critics and fans alike, although it didn't perform particularly well at the box office. Then again, neither did Scott's original way back in 1982. Nevertheless, the Blade Runner franchise has been a staple in sci-fi lore, and there's certainly room to continue exploring the dystopian future - especially given the impending replicant revolution alluded to in Blade Runner 2049.
