SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Limps Past $264.2 Million Worldwide; May Struggle To Reach $400 Million

Things aren't looking up for Solo: A Star Wars Story during its second weekend of release because the latest numbers are in and it doesn't appear as if the spinoff will manage to crack $400 million...

Well, this has got to hurt. During its second weekend of release, Solo: A Star Wars Story dropped 65% from the $84.7 million it made in its first three days to earn a total of $29.3 million in North America. That brings its current domestic haul up to $148.9 million, a modest amount which isn't a patch on the $286 million that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - the first spinoff - made by its second weekend.

Internationally, Solo isn't doing much better because it only managed to make $30.3 million this weekend to take its global total up to a meagre $264.2 million. That's not a good result and many analysts now believe that it will have its work cut out for it if it hopes to even reach $400 million by the time all is said and done. For whatever reason, moviegoers just haven't responded to this movie.

Deadpool 2, on the other hand, wasn't that far behind Solo because it scored an impressive $23.3 million in North America this weekend which points to people gravitating to that over this latest Star Wars adventure. What did you guys decide to check out in
theaters these past few days? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts on that and Solo's failings in the comments section down below.

I think people are getting tired of Star Wars. I am.

@jj2112 - or Disney shouldn’t have made this movie considering no one wanted it

It's not Star Wars fatigue - it's a complete destruction of respect for story telling and the fanbase. Those involved are attacking the fans verbally constantly.

If you bit the hand that feeds you, eventually people stop feeding you.

A majority of the target age range did not get invested into the story enough to buy the toys and/or see the spin-offs and sequels.

A majoirty of fans of the previous movies are being turned away by divisive decisions made based on politics rather than story telling and hatred rather than a desire to explore characters.

With such a toxic company who have an utter lack of understanding of any of their fanbase - coupled with a film nobody asked for, Solo was bound to bomb and i expect Episode 9 will be similar... maybe higher, but not as high as TLJ.

@jj2112 - I mean, I love the last Jedi and tfa, and I agree.

Should’ve planned this out better. It’s amazing (seriously not circle jerking here, just being factual) that marvel is the ONLY franchise capable of putting out consitantly watchable movies.

@jj2112 - I’ve said it before and I’ll be saying it again and again and again. We can smell a fake from miles away. This reeks of money. Not passion, story, or characters. That said, Mr. Star Wars, GTFO OF HERE!

@Re1Agent - honestly, I’m glad you’re pissed off. If you were happy, Star Wars would be in a REALLY bad place.

@BloodyBed - let’s say “cinematic universe”.

John wick, mission impossible... Deadpool. All consistent franchises.

@Scarilian - “majority”

and from where I’m standing, the only thing toxic here is the fans themselves. TLJ is barely offensive. It’s no BVS.

@ODanil - No way there will be a sequel. But these characters and story might continue in another side project not called Solo.

@ODanil - this cast has so much potential I think a sequel could’ve been great. Sadly I don’t think we’re getting one

@ODanil - Best case scenario they make a Lando movie featuring Chewie and Han, but honestly, I don't really want it, as much as I'd love to see more of these actors playing these characters.

YES !!! Let Lucasfilm and Disney feel the hurt like they hurt the fans with the Last Jedi trash.
Buckster10
Buckster10 - 6/3/2018, 11:07 AM
@blitzkreg - All this time the Empire and First Order used Death Stars, Sith Lords, Stormtroopers, Tie Fighters, AT-AT's and the dark side against the Resistance. All they really needed to end their "Star Wars" was Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson
Toomonkees
Toomonkees - 6/3/2018, 3:13 PM
@blitzkreg - yah that is what this is. Fans are flipping the bird back at Disney, kk and freakin Rian Johnson. That is what is going on. The fans have gone to the dark side and they ain’t coming back anytime soon
DarthGrizzly
DarthGrizzly - 6/3/2018, 4:41 PM
@blitzkreg - tbh, I wish it didn't happen to this, I may have said talked shit about this film before, but man I enjoyed it and I feel bad for the people who had to work extra just cause the "top people " decided to change what was already done with 2 weeks left to wrapping, I wish it happens to the last jedi than this. The crew of this film deserve praise for what they accomplished with the shitty situation the higher ups at Disney and lucasfilm put them in. And to those higher ups, [frick] them, [frick]ing pricks

I knew Star Wars fatigue was going to strike when they announced a movie EVERY YEAR for the foreseeable future.

Solo is a movie that NOBODY asked for.
