Star Wars: The Last Jedi split the franchise's fanbase straight down the middle; did writer and director Rian Johnson deliver an epic sci-fi masterpiece or make all the wrong decisions with these iconic characters? That's a debate which is likely to rage on for years to come but something everyone can agree on is that the movie featured a lot of very memorable moments which were worth talking about.

Now, with the Blu-ray release of the movie looming, Lucasfilm has released an awesome batch of concept art featuring key moments like the return of Yoda and Luke and Kylo Ren's showdown on
Crait.

If you've seen the movie (which you really should have done by now), there will be nothing here which ruins the movie for you but these gorgeous pieces of artwork definitely shed some light on the thought process which went into bringing these moments to life. To check them out, all you need to do is click
through the gallery below. Once you're done, let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

Yoda Returns

Here, Yoda's Force Ghost watches on after calling down lightning to burn the sacred Jedi Temple on Ahch-To. The iconic character's appearance was completely unexpected and a great surprise for fans.

The Tree Burns Down

Throughout the entirety of The Last Jedi, this temple and the texts within were made to sound important but we soon realised that wasn't the case (as did Luke while he watched them burn).

The Showdown

As Kylo Ren steps off his ship, Luke Skywalker watches on ready to do battle with his nephew. It wasn't the fight many fans hoped for but it was definitely a cool way to say farewell to the Jedi Master.

Is That All You've Got?

The First Order unleashes the full extent of its firepower on Luke Skywalker but there he stands, unscathed. We all assumed it was because he was so powerful, not just, well, a Force projection!

The Jedi Master Stands Tall

"Do you think you got him?" Unfortunately for Kylo Ren, he did not. This gorgeous visual of Luke standing amidst the red dust on Crait is definitely memorable as was his reaction to those blasts.

Uncle Vs. Nephew

The Last Jedi was a divisive move among fans and a big part of that stems from the fact that we never got to see an actual fight between Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren. The scene was still cool, though.

Holdo's Sacrifice

Here, we get to see the aftermath of Holdo's decision to tear Supreme Leader Snoke's ship in two. It's not clear who that's supposed to be standing there watching the destruction but it's a cool visual.

The First order vehicles look so ugly compared to the Empire's.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - I liked Holdo in the film and Laura Dern is an absolute treasure and icon.

@FromACertainPOV - To each their own. I love Laura Dern. But she seemed wasted on that character.

@FromACertainPOV - Laura Dern is great. Holdo is a terrible, pointless character.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - The character was terrible but that scene was damn beautiful. Ive never heard a theater gasp is silence like that before.

@Himura - Agree with you there. Had the character doing it been more meaningful and not introduced an hour ago, it could have elevated the movie more than it did.

Kind of wish Luke survived. He is 100% coming back as a ghost but it would have been cool to have him & Rey fight together in IX

@DaHyro - if they want to pillage early drafts of revenge of the Jedi Luke can come back.

@IronGenesis - I wish, but Kathleen Kennedy will never admit that she's wrong. Luke isn't coming back, except as a Force ghost cameo. I never thought they could find a way to absolutely butcher one of the most iconic characters in cinema, but they did it

Holdo should have been Lando
Yoda should have been Anakin
Force Proejction Luke should have been Real Luke

Woulda, coulda, shoulda...deal with it.

@IronGenesis - Disagree with lando, repleace holdo with ackbar.
LEVITIKUZ

@IronGenesis - Lando being Holdo makes the galaxy too small and also Billy Dee has some health issues.

Like he hasn't been in a live action films in a while due to them. I remember him having health issues performing in the last film he was in.

He reached out to Disney asking if he could voice Lando in Rebels and the Battlefront games because he isn't sure if health wise he could play Lando again.

Billy is 80 and last year was in a wheelchair.

We already established why it was right to do Yoda over Anakin yesterday ;)

And no. Force projection Luke was best because it accomplished 2 things:
1) showing Luke as the most powerful force user in the franchise
2) Having Luke embarrass Kylo in front of him army

@ImmortalCipher - Except Ackbar died when the Tie Fighters blew up the station Leia was in.

@LEVITIKUZ - You haven't "established" anything other than your weak attempts to justify the terrible choices made in this movie which have gutted the franchise.
