Edge of tomorrow currently is enjoying stellar reviews, but unfortunately great reviews sometimes do not translate into buzz and in this case Box Office tickets. In spite of being one of the best reviewed movies of the year, the adaptation of the All you need is kill manga, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, is expected to bow to second place right behind The Fault In Our Stars starring Shailene Woodley.

The Fault In Our Stars, based on a very popular novel by author John Green, center around two teenagers who meet and fall in love in a support group for cancer patients. It has all become the biggest pre-selling romantic drama in Fandango’ history and social media tracking shows that it will enjoy great fan and overall female audience support over the weekend.  The Fault In Our Stars is expected to make about $45 million in US theaters over the weekend, it was made with a modest budget of $12 million.

Edge of Tomorrow will not fare as well, current projection show it will make somewhere between $30 and $32 million, which is lower than the debut of Cruise’s Oblivion which opened to $37.1 million last year.  Perhaps Edge of Tomorrow will endure in theaters due to its critical acclaim, but it is difficult to project if it will since it already endured a disappointing international opening last weekend.

Forecast (June 6-8)

1. Fault in Our Stars - $45 million

2. Edge of Tomorrow - $32 million

3. Maleficent- $31.2 million (-55%)

4. Men:DOFP- $18.2 million (-44%)

Edge of Tomorrow was a very good movie, however, for some reason it just doesn't interest the general movie going audience. I saw it 2 times already, recommended it to all my friends, it's a good movie, shame it's not performing as it should be

Saw Fault In Our Stars last night with my girlfriend as she loves John Greene.
I can see that film doing well. Especially for fans of the books as the movie is apparently verbatim to the book.

Edge Of Tomorrow...I might wait for Dvd. I've heard good things but I still can't get excited.

Damn this sucks. My partner actually dislikes the book and does not want to see the film. So i'm taking my partner to see Edge of Tomorrow.
