CONFIRMED: Universal Postpones Release Date Of JURASSIC PARK 4 Indefinitely
While it was originally set to be released on June 13th, 2014, it has now been confirmed by Universal that Jurassic Park 4 has been pushed back indefinitely. However, as we reported earlier today, it sounds as if Colin Trevorrow is indeed still attached to direct. Read on for details!
Many fans thought that Universal were being a little too optimistic when they set Jurassic Park 4 for a Summer 2014 release (especially as there's still no cast in place), and it looks like that is indeed the case as the studio has today confirmed that the release of the movie has been delayed indefinitely. Earlier today, we told you about the film being put on hold, and it's worth noting that the following statement released by Universal makes no mention of a new release date - it is now slotted in as "TBD" instead. It's highly unlikely that they would be foolish enough to movie to Summer 2015 - a period which looks set to be dominated by Disney's The Avengers 2 and Star Wars Episode VII - so when we will now end up seeing Jurassic Park 4 on the big screen is now unclear.
In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise. We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history.
Meanwhile, Variety mentions that Bryce Dallas Howard and David Oyelowo were front-runners to join the cast. Whether that will still happen is obviously unknown at this point as well. Director Colin Trevorrow is rewriting Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver's screenplay with Derrick Connelly.
