Director J.A. Bayona recently sat down with ComingSoon.Net for an interview about his upcoming sequel to Jurassic World. Bayona discussed his inclusion of political elements in the film, such as addressing the exploitation of the dinosaurs and commercialisation. These elements have always been a part of the Jurassic franchise and have been used to varying degrees of effectiveness, but it sounds like he's planning on highlighting them here.
Due to his work in the horror genre, Bayona was also asked if he would be including more scares this time.
“You need to adapt, you need to know where you are,” responded the director. “‘Jurassic’ is going to be very different from ‘A Monster Calls’ or ‘The Orphanage,’ but they called me because they loved ‘The Orphanage’ and ‘The Impossible’ and they wanted me to be leading the new ‘Jurassic.’ I think you’re going to find some stuff that will remind you of my movies. At the same time I’m very aware that this is Steven’s baby and I’m going to take care of his baby as much as possible, knowing where I am all the time.”
Cameras begin rolling on Jurassic World 2 in March.
