New JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM Synopsis Teases An Earth Shattering Conspiracy

Following the debut of that awesome first Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom teaser trailer, Universal Pictures has released a synopsis for the sequel which teases a game changing conspiracy for the franchise.

Jurassic World exceeded everyone's expectations at the box office when it was released in 2015 but director Colin Trevorrow followed that with critical failure The Book of Henry and a firing from Star Wars Episode IX by Lucasfilm. He is, however, still involved with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom but a new director is in charge in the form of J. A. Bayona. So far, it looks like a considerably better movie!

Regardless, Universal Pictures has now released a new synopsis to go along with the trailer and as well as essentially reiterating the storyline made clear by that sneak peek, we get a hint that a larger conspiracy may be at play which will once again see dinosaurs roaming the Earth and back in charge!

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before. Welcome to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Depending on how much Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom commits to this idea, it could be a real game changer for the franchise and may take things down a rather, well, silly route. Who could be in charge of trying to return the Earth to its prehistoric state? We don't know but it would be a pretty neat twist if Sam Neill's Alan Grant was somehow involved! Long time lurker, new registration, and first-time poster.

There are about a dozen things about this trailer and synopsis that are so ridiculous that I'm sure Michael Crichton is rolling over in his grave.

Will I see this in the theaters, though? Hell yes.

These movies are really testing the limits of credibility... yes, I'm aware that they're about dinosaurs. I can accept that part.

how long can they milk the same basic plot from every one of these movies which is "humans are stupid and dinosaurs try and eat us"? where can they go after this plot-wise? id imagine if this were real life after the events in the first film they would've enacted legislation that would've banned genetic dino experiments. despite that im frickin' jacked for this movie!!

@JizzerTron - "how long can they milk the same basic plot..."

As long we we continue to watch them. In some ways, these films are like porn film. Most people who watch porn films just want to see people have sex and are far less interested in writing, plot, acting, etc.

I suspect most people just want to see these creatures look good, run/fly around, and eat other living things. Writing, plot, acting, etc. are far less important.

I also suspect if there were as many dino films as super hero films, audiences would get more picky about these things, but many of them are "taking what they can get".

To many, "Jurassic World III" was better than not getting one at all. If it had been the first in the franchise, it would have seemed better.

And, yes, I'm jacked, also. I want to see these creatures look good, run/fly around and eat other living things! Like some of the others, I may not see them a second time, but I will enjoy watching them at least once. Despite negative aspects of the films, there is still much to enjoy.

My main struggle is understanding who this trailer is for. If it's for the general audience, why tease the appearance of 3 theropod species that nobody but the hardcore fans (who are already sold on the movie) will care about ? Why show 87 different action shots of the same sequence and basically nothing else ?

If it's for fans of the franchise, why show the Michael Bay-like massive action set piece, rather than the more suspenseful horror elements (shown in the BTS featurette) that much more closely resemble the original film ?

I can't help but feel like there's a major plot twist and that the marketing department is so obsessed with not revealing it, that they're showing very little of the movie.

What was the last huge tentpole action blockbuster that didn't use a single shot of its climactic action sequence in the first trailer ?

@MiopTop - I always thought that the director and/or writers should decide what to put in the trailers, but from I understand, they rarely ever have any say-so in that part of marketing. Shame. Who else can better sell a film and know what to "leave out" of the trailer at the same time?

@LSHF - A lot of times, it's not even the movie studio that makes the trailer. They send clips to a trailer studio whose job it is to pick the clips and make the best trailer out of what they're given. I can't tell if Universal just gave them bad clips (barely anything outside of the volcano scene) or if the trailer company f*cked up.

So, in addition to the many other risks (to human life) they took building this place, they built it on an island with a volcano? Oh, well. If it wasn't for stupid decisions, many of the story-lines in many of these films would never happen.
