Just like there were some toxic #ReleaseTheSnyderCut fans, it seems the same can now be said of #RestoreTheSnyderVerse supporters.
Not everyone hoping to see Zack Snyder's Justice League vision continue can (or should) be painted with the same brush, of course, but some did recently attempt to review bomb Godzilla vs. Kong in a bid to grab Warner Bros.' attention.
As Screen Rant notes, of the 44 1* reviews which were uploaded to IMDb, 33 have now been removed because they were posted with that very popular hashtag. Nine remain, though those do appear to be from people who have watched the movie and simply did not enjoy it.
While IMDb scores don't really mean much, Rotten Tomatoes' percentages do. Well, there's good news for the crossover on that front because with 122 reviews counted, it now sits at 80%.
Despite a couple of very negative scores from big outlets when the embargo initially lifted, a much larger number of sites have now weighed in, and most really enjoyed it. Yes, it seems the story and characters don't always hit the mark, but the battle between the title behemoths doesn't disappoint, which is arguably the most important thing.
"Delivering squarely on its title," reads the Critics Consensus, "Godzilla vs. Kong swats away character development and human drama to deliver all the spectacle you'd expect from giant monsters slugging it out."
With a positive response from critics and some great numbers from the international box office, perhaps a rematch will take place in a Godzilla vs. Kong sequel? We'll keep you guys updated.
