New Details On KING KONG VS. GODZILLA Including The Size Difference And Eventual Team-Up

We all have a lot of questions about how King Kong and Godzilla will be able to square off on the big screen when there's such a huge size difference, and we now have new details on that and more.

It was recently revealed that Legendary has moved Kong: Skull Island to Warner Bros. in order to build to a movie which will pit King Kong against Godzilla after the latter's sequel is released. The studio wasn't happy with references to "Monarch" (the secret government organisation that Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins were part of in Godzilla) in Kong's script, but that's obviously not going to be an issue now the project is no longer at Universal. The movies are clearly going to be set in the same world, but one problem the studio has is the size different between the two monsters.

"There were funny comments about him having to be the size of the Empire State Building instead of hanging off of it," one studio insider tells The Hollywood Reporter. However, the trade adds that a source close to Tull says, "Legendary is confident it can come up with a rationale to explain how Kong and Godzilla can do battle - and possibly become allies." Well, a team-up will certainly be interesting! How do you guys think they're going to tackle the size difference between King Kong and Godzilla? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts and theories below...

If Skull Island is a period piece then easily enough experiments could have been conducted on Kong's corpse to create their own giant monster before or after the world has seen Godzilla and Muta. Or there's always exposure to radiation...

So what is this a Batman V Superman thing all over again. Will the movie be called King Kong V Godzilla Dawn of Monsters or KKVG for short.

No way Batman can fight Superman. 3 seconds and Superman just crushes him!

But seriously, where's Universal's head at?

The title to this article is extremely misleading. It sounds like we will be getting details on how they plan to tackle the size difference, that is not the case.

I say just make King Kong bigger. They can use radiation or something of that nature. Something man made to give him that size he needs to take him on.

They could always address the size difference the way Toho did; not addressing it! Although it seems as though there will be some actual continuity between King Kong and Godzilla, whereas Toho just got the rights to use King Kong and dumped him in as a new monster.

If they do this right then this could be a huge franchise for them, a series of King Kong movies, a trilogy of Godzilla movies, a trilogy of Godzilla/King Kong movies, and then if any of the other monsters introduced in the series really connects with audiences then spin-offs too.

Man, I've got to watch Godzilla again to see how big he actually was, in some scenes he seemed to be incredibly huge (airport scene) in others he seemed to be a fair size. But eh, I dunno, I guess it all depends on the vision surrounding how they want these iconic movie monsters to duke it out. You could go with a smaller scale size for Kong to make him work harder to weaken Godzilla or you could just make them the same size to make more destruction. My only thing is that we may not be able to see how Kong maneuvers throughout the city if he's the same size as Godzilla....

The Americanism surrounding Godzilla has weakened its true potential. I say let the next Godzilla flick take place in Japan with a Japanese cast.

Maybe Kong will find a spinach field and grow from eating it?
Probably be the father of Kong or something, we'll find out Kong was a just a petulant lil kid...

Even if they figure out the size difference there's still that little fact that no one seems to have mentioned yet, that King Kong's kinda…dead.

Got to be honest, seeing a team up sounds cool if done right, but even if they do come up with with a way to negate the huge size difference, Godzilla is still the more powerful monster easily, not only in terms of power, but he can just cook Kong. Still, I'm gitty to see where this goes.
