GODZILLA Sequel Enlists KRAMPUS Writers Michael Dougherty & Zach Shields
With Kong: Skull Island due out next year, Legendary has found a pair of writers to pen their Godzilla sequel, which will hit theaters before the two monster legends face-off in 2020.
Variety is reporting that Legendary has enlisted Krampus scribes Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields to pen the script for their upcoming Godzilla sequel, which is due out in theaters early 2019.
Additionally, while Kong: Skull Island is already complete, the report strongly suggests that the studio may be working on establishing a writers room to help further develop their impending Godzilla/King Kong cinematic universe. Dougherty & Shields are expected to just write the script for Godzilla 2, but there is a possibility their draft may turn out to be the jumping off point for a potential writers room.
Kong: Skull Island, which was helmed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Jason Mitchell, & Toby Kebbell, hits theaters March 10, 2017. The next installment in the franchise will be Godzilla 2, which is expected in theaters on March 22, 2019 and will be followed by the monster movie blockbuster for the ages: Godzilla vs. Kong, which is currently dated for May 29, 2020.
