Variety is reporting that Legendary has enlisted Krampus scribes Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields to pen the script for their upcoming Godzilla sequel, which is due out in theaters early 2019.

Additionally, while Kong: Skull Island is already complete, the report strongly suggests that the studio may be working on establishing a writers room to help further develop their impending Godzilla/King Kong cinematic universe. Dougherty & Shields are expected to just write the script for Godzilla 2, but there is a possibility their draft may turn out to be the jumping off point for a potential writers room.

Kong: Skull Island, which was helmed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Jason Mitchell, & Toby Kebbell, hits theaters March 10, 2017. The next installment in the franchise will be Godzilla 2, which is expected in theaters on March 22, 2019 and will be followed by the monster movie blockbuster for the ages: Godzilla vs. Kong, which is currently dated for May 29, 2020.

I liked the first one. Should've killed Aaron Taylor instead of Cranston though.

And my god the first reveal of Godzilla at the airport was absolutely phenomonal.

Could've done with 10 mins more screentime tbh.

I hope they can find room in the script for more than ten minutes of screen time for the title character...

I was excited for this until they combined it with King Kong again. The Kong Movie looks awful (and im probably the biggest kong fan that i know) because they adjusted his size to make him big enough to fight GZ. I hope its great but i honestly dont see how it could be
