GODZILLA TV Show MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Gets Trailer, Premiere Date And KONG: SKULL ISLAND's John Goodman

Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and with that comes a premiere date and confirmation the series will see the return of John Goodman's Kong: Skull Island character.

Apple TV+ unleashed the first trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (via SFFGazette.com), and with that comes confirmation the Godzilla spin-off will premiere on the streaming platform on November 17!

The other big surprise in this preview is the unexpected return of Kong: Skull Island's Bill Randa, the character played by John Goodman in the 2017 movie.

He was a senior official in Monarch and led the expedition to Kong's home; however, when we last saw Bill, it was in the jaws of a monstrous Skullcrawler, so we don't necessarily believe he's miraculously managed to survive that adventure (instead, these sequences are probably flashbacks).

Still, all signs point to the character being a key part of this series, with Kurt Russell's former Army Officer seemingly setting out to expose a long-kept secret which could change this world as we know it.

Elsewhere in the teaser, we see more of Godzilla and learn more about the impact the King of the Monsters has had on the world since first rising from the ocean's depths. There are other Titans here as well, suggesting Monarch will be pushed to its limits while trying to contain this deadly new threat to Earth.

As we're sure you'll remember, Monarch is the S.H.I.E.L.D.-like organisation tasked with keeping track of the world's Titans; they previously appeared in GodzillaKong: Skull IslandGodzilla: King of the MonstersGodzilla vs. Kong, and the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

You can check out the new trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters in the player below.

"Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real," the synopsis for the 10-episode series reads, "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch."

"Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga - spanning three generations - reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives."

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Mari Yamamoto, Ren Watabe, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.

Developed by Chris Black (Severance) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye), the first two episodes were helmed by WandaVision and Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman.

As noted, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will premiere on Apple TV+ on November 17.

New Toho GodZilla and a Monarch show coming the US universe. Godzilla fans are eating good as of late. This looks fun and worth checking out.

@MrDandy - so we're getting a new Godzilla show with Monarch, a new big budget Hollywood movie with Godzilla X Kong, and a new big budget Japanese movie with Godzilla Minus One. Not to mention all the anime stuff and the recent movies... this is peak time to be a fan of the big green lizard.

I’m glad that Godzilla is going to be part of the show as well. It annoys me when the spin offs refer to the main property but don’t show the goods

Looks very high quality work went into this.

Great cast too.

Loved the first Godzilla, Kong Skull Island and Godzilla vs Kong were very good too.

Besides Godzilla 2, this "monsterverse" has been quite consistent and very fun to watch.

@Usernametaken - agreed! While KoM was a miss, they quickly picked up their stride. I’m actually more excited for the monsterverse than the comic book movies

@Arthorious - consistent quality builds trust.
Hollywood has forgotten that

Now that I’ve seen that thumbnail, I’m expecting to see a Godzilla sized Kurt Russell.

Cool trailer. Like how we're getting more context for monarch.

Also, with the lack of news due to the strike, I'm guessing this trailer will spawn like 50 articles here filled with speculation and rumors about what it all means.

Gotta love the baseless speculation that Randa has somehow come back from the dead. Your readers are smart enough to deduce that the dead character is going to be showing up in the scenes set in the past, a structure that has already been well established for this show.
Good job with writing like your readers are idiots.

Now Apple TV should twist this into the origin story of the Pacific Rim programme and get Godzilla fighting the robots.

If this is happening before 2014, they need to bring Brian Cranston in this. Killing him off so early in the first movie was dumb.

@IronMan616 - I get that Cranston is a beloved actor but this continuous take from people baffles me. I really don't get what more his character would bring had he lived longer.

Anyway, given this seemingly deals with decades before San Francisco and just after it and he wasn't involved with or even aware of Monarch, I don't see where he would fit into any of it.

@Slotherin - I disagree with you there. Cranston character with short amount in that movie made audience care for him more, cause his acting was too convincing.. where as Aaron had wooden performance and audience never got connected with his character. If that movie somehow made Arron Character die and make Cranston character live to protect his son's family would have had more impact in the movie...

@dragon316 - if the story is good it won't matter. Look at Godzilla 2014. G showed up for only like 8 minutes total. Still a great movie.

So you CAN bring a big-budget product made initially for theaters to television and not have the special effects suffer for it. A certain someone is just cheap...
