PREDATOR Stars Jesse Ventura And Bill Duke Are Big Fans Of PREY; Offer High Praise To Amber Midthunder

Original Predator actors Jesse Ventura (Blain) and Bill Duke (Mac) have taken to Twitter to offer high praise to Dan Trachtenberg's Prey, welcoming star Amber Midthunder into the "Predator family."

Prey has been receiving widespread acclaim since it debuted on Hulu/Disney+ last week (the movie currently sits at a very impressive 93% on Rotten Tomatoes), and two cast members from the original Predator (via SFFGazette.com) have now weighed in with some high praise of their own.

Former WWE Superstar and Governor of Minnesota, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, and veteran actor, director and producer Bill Duke took to Twitter to share their reactions to the hard-hitting prequel.

“Great, great film,” Ventura wrote while highlighting star Amber Midthunder's performance with one of his own character's iconic lines. “Welcome to the Predator family. [Director Dan Trachtenberg] thank you for making such a thoughtful, creative and wonderful film.”

"Have you checked out the Prey on hulu? If not, do watch it. It's an amazing film and Amber Midthunder is phenomenal. This young woman has a bright career ahead of her," added Duke.

Ventura played Sergeant Blain Cooper in John McTiernan's film, and was the second member of Dutch's crew to fall victim to the ruthless alien hunter after Hawkins was ambushed and dragged away. Duke portrayed his best bud, Sergeant Mac Eliot, who became obsessed with gaining revenge for his friend's death.

Prey has come under for from the usual crowd for pitting a lone "skinny female" against the Predator (too woke, Mary Sue, etc), so it's nice to see these OGs giving the movie their stamp of approval.

What did you guys think of Prey? Drop us a comment down below.

@regularmovieguy - People who shriek something is political because a woman/poc/queer person are in it are really telling on themselves. Also, most good art is political! If you can't take your beliefs being challenged for like an hour and a half, you don't really deserve good things.

@BestAtWhatIDo - Agreed. Also, very ironic coming from a likely leftist.
Typically, it's the pot calling the kettle black. The left is very much a forced coercion of join us or die. The largest laughable group of hypocrites there is are leftists.

@TheSuperMex - BTW, should President Trump be actually guilty of something significant and not petty BS, then absolutely bring it to trial. That's the difference between you all and most of us. We don't martyr our people if they are in fact guilty pieces of shit. We don't ignore it and give a pass. We sure as hell wouldn't be ignoring Hunter's laptop and dealings with his father and overseas corporate interests for an example.
It's what the left does... They make excuses, it's one of your pillars. Again, hypocrites. The top of the tier.

"BTW, should President Trump be actually guilty of something significant and not petty BS, then absolutely bring it to trial. That's the difference between you all and most of us."

January 6th is going to be remembered for decades if not centuries, and likely taught in schools specifically because your statement is hilariously incorrect. You're blind if you lived through the last 2.5 years and thought that Republicans do not have a huge problem with violent extremism, regardless of what you think about whether or not Democrats have equally big problems.

@Imprtracr1 - Right, because the left is currently banning books, abridging the right to protest, and dissolving the separation between church and state. If you think Republicans believe in freedom of speech that isn't distinctly white, Christian, and male, you're simply a moron. Conservatives calling people snowflakes couldn't be funnier when we have some kind of "black Santa" panic at least annually.

@regularmovieguy - people saying that it is political are ridiculous. It’s literally a girl going through her hunting trials to determine if she has what it takes to hunt. SO POlITICAL!! She even has a good try-fail cycle through the film.

Enjoyable film. Definitely up there with Predator & Predator 2 for me & better than everything else that came after those two.

Would like to see Trachtenberg do a modern / current day take with Predator, although, another prequel inbetween to show how the Predators got the gun back from Naru that would eventually show up in predator 2. Clearly when they next came back she must be killed / beaten for them to end up with the gun again, so, I'd like that explored first, then get us up to modern times.

@TheSuperMex - I thinkfor me, I liked how it went from the Jungle to the City setting, but, I also like Danny Glover & Gary Busey so that was an excellent pairing for me.

As a youngster I was still hoping for Dutch to show up at some point either for his expertise on previous dealings with the alien or to actually help out physically with the task at hand.

Disappointed to hear in later life e was almost in the sequel but left due to a pay dispute.

@TheSuperMex - comic Canon or movie canon? Even the comics found a way to bring Dutch family back without bringing Dutch back.

Movie was ok. A shallow mildly stupid ending, flat writing and girl power kept the film from being great.

What saved this movie was the handeling of Predator. Some pretty good action too.

Easily my 2nd fav after the first film. Which isn't saying a lot considering all the other film suck

DCasAhobby - 8/9/2022, 9:04 AM
@Waddles - that speaks to me as to how much girl power was in this film. I forgot, wasn't even talking about that part. Which is girl power to an extint.

I was speaking of how a 14 year old girl was the only one who knew anything and fought like John Wick....for no damn reason.
Those adult male trappers eould have stomped her ass with ease.

And she defeated the Predator with the most dumb plan of all time.

Add the bucking up to authority and the female oppressive ways of tradition and yeah the girl power was spilling over.

Completely took me out of the movie. Honestly unless super powered i don't want see a 13 year old girl doing jack shit action wise
DCasAhobby
DCasAhobby - 8/9/2022, 9:31 AM
@Waddles - guess we saw two diffrent things.

I could've actually been on board with a 14 year old being the antagonist of a Predator film if handled better. Imo she was to strong and to tough. The battle at the trappers camp sums up my sentiment. John Wick level action even matching strength with the trappers while on the ground.

They had her way to smart when juxtaposed with every male in the film. Her intellect reminded of how DC writes Batman. Stupid plans that always work in the story for the purpose of selling lead as the smartest.

Her mud timed helmet plan was trash. I don't feel the Predator stopping in that exact spot in the mud was reliable. She would have died long before that anyway. She took hits that would have killed a man.

At the end of the day it's fiction. Super wokeness bothers some more than others. Movie was girl power all the way.

Again I don't have a problem with female leads when handled right

Where'd you get '14 year old' from? Also if you have no trouble buying that 50+ year old John Wick can survive doing the shit John Wick does I don't see where your disbelief would come from in case of Naru.

DCasAhobby - 8/9/2022, 9:58 AM
@Kyos - and this is why you fail.

I referenced JW because of his insane action. I DON'T LIKE JW. for the same reasons i don't like this girl. I liked the first JW a little. Part killed it for me. To over the top. Haven't seen 3 and have no plans to see 4.

So imagine how i feel about this chick if i can't even buy into JW. All you did was prove my point.

I enjoyed the movie. There’s only so much you can do with a movie that is about an alien that hunts.
What made the first one so great is that we had no idea what the alien looked like. We had no internet to look it up back then. You went in the theatre and watched a movie that was more a horror/thriller movie than a si-fi/thriller. I think we only got to see Predator in the last 20 minutes of the movie.

Anyways, I liked it. I’m not going to scream it from the roof top that it was an amazing movie. People need to stop saying this was political. It’s a movie about an alien that hunts on earth.
