Prey has been receiving widespread acclaim since it debuted on Hulu/Disney+ last week (the movie currently sits at a very impressive 93% on Rotten Tomatoes), and two cast members from the original Predator (via SFFGazette.com) have now weighed in with some high praise of their own.
Former WWE Superstar and Governor of Minnesota, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, and veteran actor, director and producer Bill Duke took to Twitter to share their reactions to the hard-hitting prequel.
“Great, great film,” Ventura wrote while highlighting star Amber Midthunder's performance with one of his own character's iconic lines. “Welcome to the Predator family. [Director Dan Trachtenberg] thank you for making such a thoughtful, creative and wonderful film.”
"Have you checked out the Prey on hulu? If not, do watch it. It's an amazing film and Amber Midthunder is phenomenal. This young woman has a bright career ahead of her," added Duke.
Ventura played Sergeant Blain Cooper in John McTiernan's film, and was the second member of Dutch's crew to fall victim to the ruthless alien hunter after Hawkins was ambushed and dragged away. Duke portrayed his best bud, Sergeant Mac Eliot, who became obsessed with gaining revenge for his friend's death.
Prey has come under for from the usual crowd for pitting a lone "skinny female" against the Predator (too woke, Mary Sue, etc), so it's nice to see these OGs giving the movie their stamp of approval.
