Trailer Battle: ROBOCOP Vs. THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG

Yesterday saw the debut of the second trailer for the upcoming Robocop remake, and before that we had what is, presumably, the final trailer for the second Hobbit flick. Both very different types of movie, but which trailer did the best job of heightening your anticipation?

The latest Hobbit trailer that debuted the other day was by far our best glimpse at the movie yet, offering 3 minutes of mostly new footage and setting a slightly darker tone that we'd seen previously. The second full trailer for the Robocop remake also set the scene nicely, with some interesting opening dialogue from Samuel L. Jackson's character as he refers to Americans as "robophobic". The rest of the trailer had some nice action shots, but didn't really give us any fresh insight into the story or characters. Obviously these movies have barely anything in common, but at the end of the day a trailer's job is to get you excited for the movie..so which one do you think was most successful at doing that? Vote below and then sound off in the usual place.

All 'Rings' trailers look exactly the same. They even delivered what they promised. More of the same. That's not a bad thing because the movies are well made, it's just that they are fairly repetitive in a lot of ways.

The first new Robocop trailer didn't work for people, so they said 'F-it, take out all of his corny humanizing dialogue and just show him blowing up stuff, punching criminals, and fighting robots.

I have to say, it was an improvement. Even if it was just about all mindless action and trailer horns.

Which trailer did I prefer between the two?
I guess both are about the same for me.

Robocop looks bad, and the Hobbit looks like what I've already seen over and over.

Even though it took a second for me to get into The Hobbit (I mean Jackson could've shaved a good 45min off of that thing from the intro of the dwarves alone) Once it got going it was damn good movie.

I like LotR movies while I'm watching them, but I just can't really get excited about the trailers anymore. Robocop looks pretty good. I don't like the fact that it appears he gets blown up by his car instead of shotgun sploded. I think that's a pretty iconic scene in the franchise. Also, the mechs in the streets is totally MGS4.

Robocop looks cool. But how does he poop? I think I'll stick with Hobbits.

I'm a fan of the Robocop movies. But this one is so high tech that it seems to be losing the human element.
