The recently released announcement trailer for J.J. Abrams'
Star Trek Into Darkness finally gave us our first proper look at Alice Eve's (
Men In Black 3) character (among other things), but we still have no idea who she's playing. It's been rumored that she's playing a character from the original
Star Trek canon. Speaking with
Digital Spy, Eve discusses the experience of working on the highly anticipated sci-fi sequel, and praises the "imaginative" script.
"The legacy aside, the reality of the experience was a great pleasure," she said. "It was special in every way, because the people who make the movie and are in the movie are all so impressive. The whole script is immaculately written - I read it in one sitting, and I just had the film in my head. It's that articulate and specific and imaginative."
As for Abrams, Eve has nothing but good things to say about the director.
"He's a very intelligent, talented and determined man. Being around him is inspiring, and he engages you - you want to do your best for him, and tell his story in the way that he wants it told."
Eve previously worked with Benedict Cumberbatch (who plays the villain in
Star Trek Into Darkness) on a film called
Starter For Ten. How was working on
Trek different from that film?
"On Starter For Ten, the scenes I had with Benedict, I was really incapable of keeping a straight face," Eve stated.
"He was just so funny, so it was a different experience working with him again. Less comedic!"
Star Trek Into Darkness is set to hit theaters May 17th, 2013. IMAX 3D screenings of
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will feature the film's first nine minutes, and a full trailer will be released on December 17th.
