As anyone who has seen J.J. Abrams' Star Trek will know, Leonard Nimoy made a cameo appearance as an older Spock as part of the time travel plot. At the time of the movie's release there were rumors that original Kirk William Shatner may pop up in a sequel, since he was said to have been disappointed about not being included first time around. Well bad news for "The Shat", and indeed any fans of the original series hoping for some more cameos, because it seems they won't be happening.

MI4 Premiere event..
The next “Star Trek” installment, directed by J.J. Abrams, will have no members of the original cast. No Shatner, no Nimoy. No classic recipe Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty, Uhura, Chekhov or Sulu. The last “Star Trek” film featured Leonard Nimoy as Spock. But sources close to the next film, many of whom worked with Abrams on the new “Mission Impossible,” confirmed for me last night that none of the originals has been invited back this time.
“MI4″‘s Simon Pegg, who now plays Scotty (original Scotty, James Doohan, is in space heaven now with original Bones, DeForrest Kelly), quipped, “That would involve time travel. And if the real Scotty showed up, that would be something.”
I'm sure this news won't upset too many fans, especially because as Pegg notes. any appearances from the original cast would have to involve another time travel plot and Abrams has been there, done that. Still I can't help but want to see ol Bill Shatner back up there in a Trek flick!
