What Does STAR TREK 3 Have In Common With AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON?
Location, location, location! Roberto Orci's Star Trek 3 (which should be beamed up for a 2016 release) is apparently planning on shooting in Seoul, South Korea, a city which movies like Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Bourne Legacy have recently taken advantage of...
With J.J. Abrams busy shooting Star Wars Episode VII in the UK, it's screenwriter Roberto Orci who has been chosen to take over directing duties for Star Trek 3. The news that William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy have been approached for cameos has made longtime fans - who likely consider this Star Trek 13 - happy, even if the movie is being helmed by the man who co-wrote the likes of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Transformers (he is unproven in terms of directing to be fair).
Regardless, according to a new report on Trek Movie, the threequel will follow in the footsteps of Avengers: Age of Ultron by shooting in Seoul, South Korea. Their source? The Mayor of that city who recently announced the following on his Facebook page: "Today I met with Jeffrey Chernov, producer of ‘Star Trek 3,’ at the Paramount Pictures Studio and agreed to film a portion of the upcoming movie in Seoul." Orci meanwhile would head over to the site's messageboards and tease, "the Mayor was a lovely man :)" The Bourne Legacy was also partly shot in Seoul.
Rumour has it that Earth won't factor into this new movie, so the beautiful city is likely being used as a stand in for an alien world. We'll hopefully find out more soon! Star Trek 3 is set for a 2016 release to coincide with the franchise's 50th Anniversary. Are you guys excited?
