BLACK PANTHER Star Michael B. Jordan Calls STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS "My Worst Audition To Date"

Black Panther and Without Remorse star Michael B. Jordan has revealed that he auditioned for the role of Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but says he completely botched it in front of J.J. Abrams...

Michael B. Jordan is one of the most talented actors working today, but he's only appeared in a handful of blockbusters, including Fantastic Four and Black Panther. However, he very nearly ended up heading to a Galaxy Far, Far Away in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The actor first mentioned trying out for a role in the movie back in 2013, but has finally opened up about what went wrong for him. While he would have no doubt made an awesome Finn, it seems Jordan failed to stick the landing during his audition (the part ultimately went to John Boyega).

"I think it was I couldn’t wrap my brain around some of the sides because you know when you’re reading for these high-level projects, there’s never really any specificity in the sides," the actor explained in an interview with Variety. "Everything’s like super vague; everything is in secret. Reading through, I just couldn’t connect it. I definitely bombed that one for sure."

Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland is another actor who has admitted failing miserably while trying out for the role of Finn (primarily because his scene partner was pretending to be a droid).

Boyega clearly did something right, but sadly ended up being wasted in the Star Wars sequels for the most part. As for Jordan, he may have hit a bump in the road with Fantastic Four, but has since redeemed himself with a number of incredible performances across several different genres.

Among them is Without Remorse, and in our review, we concluded by noting "Despite hitting a few too many familiar beats, Without Remorse is elevated by Michael B. Jordan and lays the groundwork for what could be a must-see new action franchise. Now, bring on a team-up with John Krasinski's Jack Ryan."

Would you have enjoyed seeing Jordan head into a Galaxy Far, Far Away?

Dude dodged the mother of all bullets. I really feel for John Boyega. Dude was so hyped to be in Star Wars and his character had so much potential, they did him real dirty.

@BroskiTroski - “REEEEEEEY!!” That’s all that poor character was.

Like you said, started with a lot of charm & potential.

For me, one of Finn’s scene defines TLJ. This ex-stormtrooper is just told the same manufacture creates weapons for Imps & Rebels. Something like this should shake Finn to his core; he fled one side looking for freedom, is he just being manipulated all over again? But no, after that one sentence the character doesn’t even respond. It’s never brought up again, even in the director’s same movie. To me this epitomizes TLJ; it thinks it’s so clever and is saying something, but is shallow and pretentious. All this talk of “subverting expectations,” but the movie feels like a first draft and unplanned. I do like Rey being a nobody, but that whole movie is a sloppy mess. Anywhoo, rant over 😏

Wonder if he will direct Static, Creed 3 will be his first time directing.

If they adapt more Milestone characters, have him play Icon

Wonder who else tried out for Finn. Henry Cavill maybe?

Anyway, they did Finn dirty. If there's one character that I wanna see show up again, it's Boyega as Finn.

If they cast him, Finn and Rey would definitely have been a couple.

You didn’t miss out. Finn became the most wasted character of the franchise. I feel so bad for John Boyega.
