Carrie Fisher Responds To William Shatner's Star Trek vs Star Wars Video

A while back a video William Shatner saying that Star Trek was better than Star Wars surfaced. Well Princess Liea herself, Carrie Fisher, has responded with her own video.

Back in September Rormachine posted a video which showed William Shatner explaining why he thought Star Trek was better than Star Wars. Carrie Fisher has taken to the internet with her own explination on why Star Wars reigns supreme in fictional galaxies.

And so the debate continues. What do you think Star Wars or Star Trek? Leave your opinion in the comment boxes below. And be on the look out for the new Star Trek movie sometime in 2013, as well as the re-release of the Star Wars Saga starting with Episode One on February 10, 2012

This battle can go on for it its very much like Marvel vs DC

Personal I prefer Marvel and Star Wars to DC and Star Trek. Thats not to say the last two aren't as good, I mean I love Batman and I like the idea of Star Trek but was it a bit before its time (personal thoughts, maybe due to budget and production value).

In the words of the late great Alec Guiness,
"many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view."

This debate is really stupid. Even though I am partial to Star Wars, they are two completely different sci/fi stories. Star Trek is the equivalent to a space Navy. Whereas Star Wars is more of a space opera. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

In terms of entrainment value and mythos, Star Wars owns Star Trek. But in terms of actually scientific accuracy, Star Trek wins.

As for me, Once a Nerf Herder, Always a Nerf Herder.

Prequels killed it for me

Star Trek > Star Wars now.

It's still just preference, no right or wrong answer. The real enemies are the people who prefer XFactor.

Star Wars changed movies,by making The Event movie and their wouldn't be a Star Trek without the success of Star Wars

>their wouldn't be a Star Trek without the success of >Star Wars

That´s a time paradox, since "Star Trek" came TEN YEARS before "Star Wars".

I'm on the Star Wars side, but I feel like Shatner's argument was stronger. He seemed like he knew both series to a certain extent whereas Fisher just seems like she doesn't really know Star Trek at all.

Star Wars is a Fantasy set in a futuristic context.
Star Trek is Science Fiction (most of it at least).

I like both Science Fiction and Fantasy.

I don't like the last Star Trek film because it is a lot of fiction with the "science factor" (which is what makes Star Trek a great saga, the scientific or political themes in its Tv episodes and films) either completely missing or badly employed ("Red Matter"!?), making it only a Star Wars without mystical and mythological elements (which are what makes Star Wars a great saga) and with a very stupid script.

Star Wars is better in every way possible.

I wish people would turn around the prequel/sequel dichotomy: imagine if Episodes 1 - 3 came out first and were identical to what they are, then episodes 4-6 came out 30 years later and were identical to what they are, people would be bored to death...

Star Trek The Next Generation was the only Star Trek worth watching, except when the Borg or Q were involved.

@ antbwan Dude, Star Trek was about 10 years B4 Star Wars. So in an indirect way it was probably influenced by Star Trek. I will admit that Star Wars has a bigger following, but I personally think that Star Trek is much more intellectual. Every episode they search planets for life and look for civilization. Yes the set and effect were corny as hell but the story lines, in a philosophical and intellectual sense, are far superior to Star Wars. Star Wars bests Trek at Effects (comparing old SW to old ST). Trek bests SW at Story. But new Star Trek reboot blows Star Wars out of the water, hands down

Not this debate again... lol
krooklyndodger hit the nail on the head! Its apples and oranges. You simply can't compare Movies and Television. That's like asking which is better, Donners Superman or Smallville. You can't compare 2 2hour movies to 10 seasons(200+ episodes) of a show. In the case of SW vs ST its 6 movies against 20+ seasons of TV. Also, Star wars is meant for a younger crowd and Star Trek is intended for an older audience which greatly effects accessibility and merchandising.

5/6 Star wars Movies are better than 1/11 Star Trek movies. Star Trek is virtually unchallenged in television. So its a tie depending o the person's taste.

honestly, they're equal... Star Trek is better philosophically, and more human... and the new Star Trek shows like TNG, DS9, and Voyager are better story line wise because they had plots and subplots that could go on for an entire season or span multiple seasons.

However, Star Wars was better with action and story telling... but over all they're equal. Sometimes ya feel like a nut sometimes ya don't... Star Wars is Almond Joy and Star Trek is Mounds.

I will give Star Wars has the better marketing for Merchandise. Her argument on the Effects would only pertain the original series only. Just about any effects from the 60's seems laughable even Dr Who which came out a few years early had corny Effects. At least ST has had multiple series with different stories. Unlike SW using the same story lines over & over. SW-Remastered in in VHS in 90's, put to dvd, made 3 movie prequel, released in hd, blu-ray, now 3d. Come on all of those great books & we get the same washed up story lines.
I can say the cloneswars on cartoon network is refreshing. I like both but I prefer ST!
