At the centre of Solo: A Star Wars Story is a heist and now, thanks to Star Wars Net, we may know what the payload is - and it may be just what the Falcon needs to make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.

With the first wave of Solo products about to hit stores, Star Wars Net analysed the merchandise for more plot clues, and details. They found something particularly interesting in Hasbro’s Solo card game - a card labelled:

Coaxium

This is the first time the word has appeared within the Star Wars universe. The card is part of the vehicle group, and appears to have something to do with the Millennium Falcon. Hasbro’s new Kessel Run Millennium Falcon toy includes removable coaxium containers which the included figure of Han can carry from place to place, as well as slot into the toy itself, near the engine. It's impossible to say for sure, but it’s very plausible that coaxium is what Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson's character)’s crew is trying to steal from the Conveyex train.

Here's Star Wars Net's tweet which shows off the toy's packaging. Notice how some of the labels, which could potentially spoil something, are blacked out (the coaxium tank and nose-shuttle):

Lucasfilm will most likely refrain from revealing coaxium’s purpose until the movie actually comes out, but Star Wars Net speculates that it could be a valuable resource that may even improve the performance of starships. Think a car with a Nitrous-oxide engine (NOS). Meaning that this useful MacGuffin will probably be how the Falcon reaches the iconic milestone of, as Han puts it in A New Hope, making the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.

What do you think about this MacGuffin and its speculated purpose? Solo: A Star Wars Story releases in theatres on May 25th.

Can someone please explain what a MacGuffin is?

Also, I’m really looking forward to this movie. Can’t wait to see Alden and Donald’s take of Han and Lando respectively.

@ChangAlang - I may be wrong but from my understanding it is a person/or object which the plot of the film runs around.

For example, we need to find the Magic sword (macguffin) inorder to to defeat the evil King.

"Can someone please explain what a MacGuffin is?"

Basically it is a plot device in the form of some goal, desired object, or other motivator that the protagonist pursues, often with little or no narrative explanation.

'Unobtanium' from Avatar is the best example.

MacGuffins normally dont affect the plot, though in this scenario i can see the MacGuffin potentially being used to help the Millenium Falcon complete the Kessel Run/Escape - which may result in it being a MacGuffin and a Deus ex machina

@ChangAlang - The orb in Guardians would be a MacGuffin. Storm's gotcha.

So they are showing the Kessel Run, to me that is like the prequels explaining the force, knowing isn’t better. Mystery and Intrigue add to Han’s character.

If they reveal if he did do the run in the time he said, rewatch a New Hope and when Han states it did the Kessel run in 12 Parsecs that line will lose so much as we’ll know he is lying or telling the truth.

@Knightrider - It was always my understanding that since Parsecs are a measurment of distance that the Kessel Run is a smugglers run from the spice mines of Kessel. This route takes ships through "The Maw" a region of space with a large amount of black holes. So doing the "Kessel Run" in 12 parsecs seems to mean that Han cut distance off the run by flying closer to black holes than others were willing to.

So it's a heist movie about stealing cable?

First timer here, but Walmart had the Falcon lego set today and the back of the box shows the front section of the ship detaching as a separate ship like the Phantom on rebels. I have an image, but have yet to figure out how to post it.
