The Star Wars prequels were divisive when they were released, and the debate surrounding them continues to this very day. However, not even they appear to have generated the sheer amount of hatred many of the creative decisions in the sequels have received since 2015.
While The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi were generally seen as good movies overall, The Rise of Skywalker is widely considered to be the worst of the trilogy, and an underwhelming end to the Skywalker Saga.
To mark a year since the movie was released, concept artist Kevin Jenkins recently started sharing some of his work from J.J. Abrams' movie. We start with a twisted take on Emperor Palpatine, and it looks a lot like he's quite literally begun to rebuild his body while heavily relying on technology to survive.
Interestingly, it appears the plan was once for the villain to make his grand return on Coruscant rather than Exegol, though we get another look at that planet here as well.
