STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Rumor Possibly Reveals The Identity Of Rey's Father - Major SPOILERS

Another very interesting new rumour about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been revealed, and it sounds like J.J. Abrams is indeed planning a huge reveal about the identity of Rey's parents...

The final chapter in the Skywalker Saga arrives this December with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and now another very interesting rumour has started doing the rounds which may reveal the true identity of Rey's father.

Making Star Wars' Jason Ward shared the intel on a recent edition of the site's Patreon-exclusive podcast, and while he cautioned that it should be taken with a pinch of salt for now, the site has been extremely reliable in the past so this definitely merits discussion. So, who is Rey's dad?

Well, it's said that years before the events of The Force Awakens, Han Solo and Leia became estranged when she started training in the ways of the Force with Luke and while she returned to Han after deciding not to pursue the life of a Jedi, he had an affair in the interim. That mystery woman ended up giving birth to a baby and, in case you hadn't already figured it out, that was Rey.

Apparently, Ben Solo learned of this and his violent reaction to the news is what led to him being sent to Luke for training. It's not clear why Kylo Ren lied to her, but Lando is reportedly aware of what happened and tells Finn and Poe. Rey, however, learns this from another source.

There's no denying that this would be a killer twist, but it's going to take some explaining and it also makes the weird, seemingly sexual tension between Rey and Kylo in The Last Jedi very strange indeed.

What do you guys think?

Its funny, That i no longer care about spoilers for the star wars franchise. But i care just enough to look at this article
Im in a strange middle ground no mans land with this franchise. The last jedi made me apathetic lowkey. I wouldn't dare look at a marvel article with a spoiler headline....

@TrueMarvel - I know what you mean, Last Jedi was such a disappointment that I'd rather just know what happens so I know what to expect.

@LadiesmanBumble - The more I read about this movie, the more I wish the Sequel trilogy was never made.

@LadiesmanBumble - It’s from the writer of BvS, what were you expecting

@tmp3 - He did write the screenplay for Argo, which won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

@tmp3 - writing the script isn't the same as being responsible for creation of the story. Pretty sure that's all JJ.

@LadiesmanBumble - some people are great at writing in reality. you tell them they can write scifi and fantasy, they think the plot lines can be fantasy as well

I initially thought how depressing it would be for this to be true and see Star Wars turned into a cheap soap opera and such an iconic character turned into a cheating husband after having such a beautiful redemption arc in the original trilogy. Then I remembered what The Last Jedi did to Crazy Uncle Luke & Flying Leia and I actually don't care beyond the 30 seconds it took me to type this.

@SwampThing - Its "almost" as if the person in charge has a personal vendetta against the original series and is taking deliberate steps to destroy and discredit those characters.

So... pretty much undoing the main thematic arc, and one of the most interesting parts of, The Last Jedi? I didn’t even like Ep VIII very much, but Rey’s parents being nobodies at least felt like there was some substance there through deconstructing Campbell’s Monomyth.
A whole trilogy where each film just undoes the last

I mean, as far as the Jedi are concerned, Solo is kind of a nobody, so Kylo was half right.

@Oberlin4Prez -
Nope;
- Did the Kessel Run
- Helped blow up a Death Star
- Married the sister of the most famous person in the entire universe
- Means that Kylo is related to Rey, something he would have used to convince her to join him in TLJ

Along with countless other reasons - it makes no sense for Han Solo to be her father.

@Scarilian - "Along with countless other reasons - it makes no sense for Han Solo to be her father. "

Which unfortunately lends more credibility to the rumor. If it made sense, dollars to donuts it wouldn't be used in this new trilogy but boy if it f$%ks things up, well that's ok then.

@Scarilian - but he's not a Jedi. That's my point. The last Jedi made the point that you don't have to be born from a special line of Jedi to be a Jedi. I'm not unaware of Hans achievements, but unless he knocked up another force user then she would technically come from nothing.
Kman
Kman - 5/29/2019, 10:27 AM
@Oberlin4Prez - right... Han Solo had practically 0 force abilities, let alone being considered part of a naturally force strong family like Leia and Luke.

...which makes me skeptical of this "spoiler"
inkniron

@Oberlin4Prez - they'll just retcon it that Han is force sensitive. That's why he's a bad ass pilot, Just like Anakin

@Kman - me too, not sure it's the best play.

That would be soooo bad. So Han just so happened to pork another force sensitive woman?? Hope this is real so Star Wars can DIE
Kurne
Kurne - 5/29/2019, 2:15 AM
This still doesn't explain anything in regards to Rey. Just retroactively tries to ruin a great character and add to the weird #wincest2019 train.

If you say they were nobodies, just please leave it at that. You've already done enough damage.
MexCowboyNation
MexCowboyNation - 5/29/2019, 8:47 AM
@Kurne - Are you saying Rey is the great character or Han? If Rey, how is she a great character when she is nothing more than a blank slate where little girls that look like her project themselves as. If Han, carry on.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 5/29/2019, 2:45 AM
Actually, it doesn’t sound so bad. Yet it still doesn’t explain her force powers
Scarilian
Scarilian - 5/29/2019, 3:21 AM
@MalseMarcel -
Her mother is apparently going to be an extremely skilled Mary Sue with the force who has been fighting a war larger than Sith VS Jedi for the past 20/30+ years. In essence she's going to be the 'MCU Captain Marvel' of Star Wars, a completely OP character who makes every film prior pointless in comparison given she was fighting a much bigger battle this entire time.

@Snotzo - I can guarantee this isn't true. besides it being completely dumb as you state, they aren't going to tarnish the legacy of Han/Leia by making him pretty much an adulterer.
Kyos

@Notgodgrodd - And the Game Of Thrones guys will write the next trilogy, so more brother-sister incest!!! It will be a tradition for Star Wars trilogies.
