Why the Empire Never Stood a Chance

I talk about why the Empire never would have succeeded.

I have come up with 5 reasons as to how the Empire never would have succeeded.

1: The Death Star had a HUGE gap that led to a hole that could blow the whole thing up.

I mean really, the huge unbeatable weapon is destroyed by a simple X-wing fighter. I mean, who approved the plans, who skipped over the obvious mistake, WHO WAS THE GUY THAT DESIGNED THIS THING!?!? WHO!!!!

2: Death Star II didn't have the hole, but it DID have a trench that led to the main reactor bay, which, if shot at, could destroy the whole thing.

Well they fixed the hole. Of course, there was a more obvious flaw which caused the untimely death of hundreds more than the last incident.

3: They didn't go looking for Obi-Wan Kenobi or Yoda

Darth Vader knew he was still alive. The Emperor knew that Yoda escaped. Now why didn't they go looking?
Why didn't The Empire send out wave after wave of Stormtroopers to explore planets, looking for the Jedi? Was it to long, and to hard? They tracked down lots of Jedi in the Force Unleashed, why is Obi Wan so hard to find?

4: Darth Vader hated his master.

He really does hate him. Really. The entire Original Trilogy he was plotting to kill him. The Force Unleashed showed us how much he really wanted to kill him. Of course he was waiting for the right moment. You can't walk up to one of the most powerful Force-Users and Try to kill him. You can't.

5: They shut down the droids.

Lets face it. If the Empire had two endless armies, they would have won the war. But they had one army, so they lost. It is as simple as that. Droids and men would have come out on top, if the Emperor hadn't shut down the Trade Federation, destroyed the droids and kill the Seperatist leaders, things might have turned out different.

Those are my reasons for why the Empire never stood a chance.

Question of the Article: Who do you think approved the plans and skipped over that detail involving a hole?

well in fairness to the second death star. the
construction wasn't finished and the empire did
search for ben and yoda (in novels that followed
the movies). but I mostly agree with you.

Actually, if you really knew the lore and movies, The empire would of probably succedded if it wasn't for the chance encounter between R2, 3PO, Ben, and Luke. If the droids would of been captured, the rebel's base would of been annihilated by the Death Star. It's because R2 found Ben, the empire lost. R2 had the schematics for the Death Star. R2 was the key in Episode 4. Without him do you really think Luke, Ben, Han would of even tried to go after the Empire?

"3: They didn't go looking for Obi-Wan Kenobi or Yoda"
I'm pretty sure they did in the comics/books. I can't exactly remember where, but I know that at least Obi-Wan had some encounters.

"5: They shut down the droids."

Yes lets keep droids around to help. Despite the fact that they could be easily taken over by the Rebels if the Rebels could of gotten their hands on them or their control ships (Episode 1: blowing up the control ship rendered all the droids useless). Palpatine's reason was simple: He'd rather lead humans, who can and will do more than any droid could ever accomplish... except IG-88... he's badass

@threebigtacos- you correct, the empire did go after
ben and yoda.the cave on dagobah with the darkside
energy was left over from one of Palpitines dark
jedi but yoda beat his ass.
every bounty huntervader could hire went looking
for Ben kenobi and a few of the dark jedi
that palpitine had working for him. vader got his ass
kicked the first time, which is why he sent others
after kenobi.

Vader didn't find Obi because Obi was on the last planet Darth Vader would look for him - tatooine, vader hates that planet more than alderaan, and he blew that one up!

As for the death stars - there has to be a flaw, there is a flaw in everything, just look at this "article"

Droids are mostly useless, except for R2-D2, IG-88 and HK-47.

The Empire was on Tatooine in ep4. Obi One Kenobi, lucky for him, hide with the clever name "Ben" Kenobi so they missed him... Close by to this "Ben" Kenobi, at the deathplace of Vaders mom and home of Owen and Berew, the just happen to live a boy named "Luke" Skywalker, just about the same age as Anakins son would have been. But, hey.. forget about that, lets look fore some droids instead...

I think they lost because the retardation was strong in that jolly bunch..

Or they lost because they fell into a plot hole.. :p
