Zoe Saldana Wants A Role In J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

Speaking with E! Online on the Oscars red carpet, actress Zoe "Uhura" Saldana shares her thoughts on her Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams moving on to helm Star Wars: Episode VII for Disney/LucasFilm. Like Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, Simon Pegg and Roberto Orci, she's very happy to see Abrams make the decision, but hopes that he will return for a third Star Trek installment. "I'm totally ecstatic,. We are going to give him s--t because we don't want him to ever think about leaving just in case we go into a third installment of Star Trek." And to no surprise, Saldana expresses interest in taking on a "sexy" role in Star Wars VII. "I'm getting ready to call them, I tell you that. I want to be a sexy something, like a princess from another planet." If any, which character would you like to see her play?

Star Trek Into Darkness is set to hit theaters May 17th. Despite J.J. Abrams not committing to the release date, Star Wars: Episode VII is targeting a 2015 debut.

I'd really like to see her in the new Star Wars. I can see her as either a Jedi or a Sith

I'd be happy with her in the films, if not a Jedi then maybe as like a bounty hunter or something badass. Quite a few actors I'd like to see in these films, Gary Oldman being one definitely. The films are renowned for it's use of British Actors in main and supporting roles so I reckon we could see possibly Tom Hiddlestone or other currently popular British Actors.

@reverendjonnynemo: While I appreciate the sentiment, Star Wars hasn't exactly been a bastion of stellar acting. Memorable and quotable, but not exactly top drawer in the performance area. I say this with all the love and respect for SW I can muster.

@J, something like:

"Hi? Like, I'm Lieutenant Uhura? ...and I'm doing the ships XO, and I'm blackmailing him with it, thereby destroying any dignity that Nichelle Nichols created in my original character?"

Zoe Saldana should have nothing to do with what no doubt will an iffy venture with Jar Jat Abrams as it is.

No thanks she already sucks and gets too much screen time in Star Trek. Not interested in her being in Star Wars. Btw she isn't all that attractive anyway.

@reverendjonnynemo: Those weren't performance choices made by the actress. You list writing issues with the character. I agree this was by far the worst choice they could have made with the character of Uhura, but if you're blaming the actress for the script, then I'm not sure what you think is good or bad acting.

@jumpin,

oh no - my issue with Orci with a writer is no secret, but her interpretation of that writing makes her a terrible actress.

Zoe Saldana's portrayal of Uhura is my #3 issue with NuTrek, and any dignity that Nicelle Nichols created of her was undone by the "acting" in a few lines.

(#1 being the silly plot contrivances, 2. Kirk as douchebag)
