The Amell boys have been busy.
For those who don't know, on March 22, Stephen and Robbie Amell (of Arrow and Flash fame) shared the short film they had been working on. Titled
Code 8 (and directed by Jeff Chan), the short told the story of a dytopian future, where 4% of the worlds population possess abnormal abilities. Most of those who have these powers, live under the poverty line and are persecuted by a militaried police force.
For those who haven't seen it, it's really worth a
watch:
Simulataneously launched with
Code 8, was a Indiegogo campaign raising money to turn the short into a feature length film. Initially asking for a modest $200,000, the campaign funds now stand at over
$1 million! Of course, Stephen Amell is no stranger to raising this kind of money. Having campaigned with various charities in the past few year (such as F*ck Cancer, Paws and Stripes and Stand for the Silent) raising hundreds of thousands of dollars. Stephen took to Facebook earlier today to thank the fans, stating:
Robbie and I don't say this enough, and if we do say it enough we wanna say it more. We want to thank everybody from the bottom of our hearts. From me, to Rob, to Jeff (our director), to everyone that is involved in Code 8. Raising a million dollars with three day to go in the campain, is nine steps north of amazing. And it's all because of you guys we are gonna make a kick. ass. movie.
So if you'd like to and you haven't already check out the campaign
here. There are 3 more days to contribute, and with some pretty cool perks (like the chance to win Stephen Amell's personal practice bow) it's definitely worth at least checking out.
