The HAN SOLO Movie Will Apparently Reveal How Lando Calrissian Lost The Millennium Falcon

We recently learned that Donald Glover will play Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo movie, but now some possible plot details have surfaced which shed some light on the role he'll play here...

Atlanta star Donald Glover being chosen to play Lando Calrissian in the untitled Han Solo movie is a perfect bit of casting, and no sooner had the studio made their choice than a very believable rumour surfaced about what we should expect from at least part of the plot. According to The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit, two sources have told him that the highly anticipated release will reveal how Lando ended up losing the Millennium Falcon to Han during a game of "Corellian Spike" sabacc.

Honestly, this makes perfect sense, especially as it's a moment Star Wars fans have been wondering about ever since it was mentioned in The Empire Strikes Back. The story has no doubt been told in various formats over the years in the Expanded Universe, but it was the in canon Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary which made it clear that Lando lost his beloved ship "fair and square" to Han in the game mentioned above. This is unlikely to be the main driving force of the story though.

We'll have to wait and see anyway, but the Han Solo movie will be released on May 25th, 2018.

You don't say... I thought the movie would talk about how Yoda learned the force? I had no idea it would delve into the back story of a young Han, and how he acquired his ship....

I am here praying that Ep VIII does something new. I don't want to retread the same plot beats from EP IV and V I don't want to see Tatooine, Hoth, Endor, and the Death Star with new names. Ep VII was to get people back into Star Wars movie and to excite old fans and new fans and an easy way to do that was to take so much from the original trilogy. Now that Ep. VII was so successful give us something new do something with Star Wars universe. As bad as the prequel trilogy was, and it was bad on so many levels, it did one thing well and that was we went new places in the Star Wars universe. We saw new places unlike from the original trilogy, new stories, new people I want that in Ep. VIII. It is time for Star Wars to drop the member berries we don't need those anymore.

do we really need to see every moment referenced in the ot?

the secret plans of the death star

how han and chewie met

how lando lost the falcon to han

i mean seriously? not every moment should be show right there and now, it just kinda takes it away from the original movies.

why can't we just get an original movie with a fresh story, where the g.a. doesnt know how each event unravels itself? isnt that the point of cinema? the art of not knowing of what is going to happen, and being generally entertained with the outcome of it all?

an original space bounty hunter movie taking inspiration from spaghetti westerns (doesnt have to be fett). an original war movie, taking us through the dark trenches of warfare ala Platoon (yes, theres rogue one, but it aint gonna be a dark war story knowing how Disney plays their cards). an ancient prolific story where we explore the mystical, philosophical depths of the force, and see two armies wage war for the genocide of one another ala Throne of Blood (sith armies vs jedi armies, how dope would that be). or what about a Yojimbo-inspired movie starring Kenobi in his missing Tatooine years (adapting Miller's Kenobi novel, of course).

calling it now, the third spinoff will be about bothans getting the second plans of the death star to mothma if this formula keeps on playing out

also, episode vii was a proper send-off of han, why bring him back with this movie? and why with a new actor helming the role?

idk, it'll be weird seeing someone else play han other than harrison

but i think gambino will own it as lando

The HAN SOLO Movie Will Apparently Reveal How Lando Calrissian Lost The Millennium Falcon....

Of course it will. That's about the only reason to even make this movie in the first place. Oh, and how Han met Chewie. Other than those 2 things, there's really no other story there. What else would it be about, especially when you know that there's no danger to the characters ahead of time?

And on top of all that, we already know how Lando lost the ship.
