OFFICIAL: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Is BLACK ADAM
After countless hints and interviews, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has finally announced that he'll be playing none other than Black Adam in an upcoming Shazam movie. Check it out after the jump!
Since last year, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has teased having a role in an upcoming DC Comics movie, but it wasn't until earlier this year that he revealed it would be either Shazam, aka Captain Marvel, or the superhero's nemesis, the anti-hero Black Adam. Well, the wrestler-turned-actor has now taken to Twitter to finally announce it's the latter character which he will be playing on the big-screen. "'Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot,'" Johnson tweeted before confirming, "My honor to become.. #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics." The tweet was accompanied by a photo of the supervillain character taking on his adversary. Meanwhile, according to Variety, the big-screen Shazam adaptation will be written by Jack the Giant Slayer screenwriter Darren Lemke. And given that Lemke was brought on board to start the scripting process very recently, there currently is no production date scheduled. However, following Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, Warner Bros. has nine untitled DC movies slotted up through 2020. What do you think?
