SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Star Tom Holland Wins Rising Star At The BAFTA Film Awards
The 20-year-old English actor has scored a special kind of award, which acknowledges promising talents in the acting industry. But that wasn't the last big surprise on the red carpet tonight...
EE Rising Star Award is the only BAFTA award category which allows the audience to vote and choose the most promising new talent. This year, Tom Holland (The Impossible, Captain America: Civil War) was announced as the triuphator, beating some impressive competitors (Ruth Negga, Laia Costa, Anya Taylor-Joy and Lucas Hedges). It's very good news for the budding actor, as he joins a group of successful young stars such as James McAvoy (2006), Tom Hardy (2011), and last year's John Boyega.
Besides his well-deserved win, one more interesting thing has happened for all of the Spider-Man fans. Tonight, Tom Holland met Andrew Garfield , the man whi played Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man series, for the very first time. According to Holland, the meeting was "really, really nice. Andrew is a really lovely guy - everything I thought he would be. He is a brilliant actor too. I have always been a fan of his work", the young actor added.
