As we recently revealed, Marvel Comics is releasing a series of variant covers to promote the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales on the PlayStation 5 on November 12th. At the time, it was mentioned that one cover was being kept under wraps, and we now have it to share with you.

Illustrated by the game's Creative Director Brian Horton, this variant for Amazing Spider-Man #55 shows the new web-slinger about to face off with none other than Prowler!

Fans have been wondering for a while if he might appear (the villain is Miles' uncle), and we now know he'll be one of the new baddies coming to Harlem in the highly anticipated video game.

The question is, could he actually turn out to be an ally?

In the latest adventure in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, teenager Miles Morales is adjusting to his new home while following in the footsteps of his mentor, Peter Parker, as a new Spider-Man. But when a fierce power struggle threatens to destroy his new home, the aspiring hero realizes that with great power, there must also come great responsibility. To save all of Marvel’s New York, Miles must take up the mantle of Spider-Man and own it.

Dig. I'm guessing it'll be second string mentorship between Miles and Uncle Prow, similar to Doc Ock and Pete. This could be interesting. Penny, penny.

I wonder if the Prowler (Miles' uncle Aaron Davis) will end up turning on the Tinkerer at the end and side with him. Expect the big reveal that he is the Prowler about half way through, a couple missions tracking him down, a big fight, then he will disappear for a bit after being defeated before coming back for a redemption.

Or the reveal isn't until the end and he becomes the actual big bad pulling the strings, much like Dok Ock in the first game.

@hainesy - I don't see them making it a reveal. They'll go the Doc Ock route of how we know who they'll end up as so make it a tragedy when they do.

What if- Peter Parker became a villain due to the Symbiote suit?

He tries to save Harry from it and ends up bonding with it instead. Miles then has the challenge of taking down his mentor, finding out his Uncle is not the hero he once thought, all the while taking out hordes of New Yorkers who refuse to abide by the law. Give me Silvermane, Puma, Boomerang, Kraven, Tarantula, and Chamelon with a splash of Eddie Brock, who's figuring out a lot of things that the public refuses to acknowledge, and a pre-carnage Kletus Cassidy on a killing spree. Penny, penny.

@tripttwe - I can see that for the sequel to the first game. Not this spin off. That's the reason the black suit wasn't in the first game, they wanted to make it special.

My guess is that the sequel will involve Peter getting the suit, which adds all this different stuff to gameplay and even involves all alternate suits having their own symbiote counterpart. Miles is also a playable character who starts to see the issues that Peter is going through in being corrupted by the suit. After defeating the main villain, Peter crosses a line causing Miles to stand up against him. The final boss is between Peter and once Miles wins Peter sneaks away, realizing the suit is messing with him and trying to find a way to get it off of him. But he won't get it off until the beginning of the sequel (where Venom comes into play).
