The immensely talented Jerad S. Marantz, just gave me the heads up that he's posted a few more pieces from his work on Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man. A while back I got the chance to speak with him about his work and he teased that he was working on concept art for a Marvel film and #TASM was apparently that project. He's currently working on concept art for a few more comic book movies that would make all of you green with envy. Speaking of green, maybe I'll ask him soon if he's started on any concept art for Green Goblin?

The Amazing Spider-Man is an American superhero film directed by Marc Webb, based on the comic book of the same name and starring Andrew Garfield as the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. It is the fourth Columbia Pictures film that portrays Spider-Man in film and is a reboot of the film series that stars the superhero. The cast includes Garfield as Peter Parker and his alter ego, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors. The film will portray Parker as his super powers are evolving in high school.

The film's development began simultaneously with Sony announcing the cancellation of Spider-Man 4. Opting for a reboot with the same production team rather than another sequel, the studio announced a July 2012 release date for what was now titled The Amazing Spider-Man. James Vanderbilt was hired to write the script while Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves helped fine-tune the script. Filming started in December 2010 in Los Angeles before moving to New York City with the help of RED Epic camera. The film entered post-production in April 2011.

Sony Entertainment has focused its marketing campaign with a promotional website with released images, 2 theatrical trailers, a prologue screening in certain cities and a video game tie-in being developed by Beenox among other products. The Amazing Spider-Man is scheduled to be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on July 3, 2012. A sequel of the film is being planned for release in 2014 with James Vanderbilt hired to again write the screenplay.

The first and last ones actually aren't that bad. The first one looks kinda like a velociraptor and the last one is more of a hulking monster type. The one they went with looked significantly better in motion on screen than it did in any of the promo photos I saw, but I still left the theater wanting something a bit more lizard-like.

THE END LIZARD DID JUST FINE..

I PREFER THIS CONCEPT OVER THE LAST ONE, THE END ONE IS SOMEWHAT CLOSE BUT I CAN SEE WHERE THEY TRIED TO GET THE DESIGN THAT EMOTED IFANS THE MOST..

IF YOU WENT WITH THE LAST DESIGN IT WOULD JUST BE A STRAIGHT UP HULKING BEAST.

I wish he had a snout and a labcoat on more.

Funny thing is.. This movie has wise-cracking Spidey in high school, dating Gwen Stacy first and had the Lizard snoutless and in a trench coat just like in the comics.. yet.. I feel like the Sam Raimi Trilogy had the HEART and SOUL of Spidey. Does that make sense?

That's solely my opinion, by the way.

Seen the movie yesterday it was good only because of what others have been complaining about which was the first hour about doing the origin which I though was done very well it had a good story development and took you on a motional ride. Other than that the last 40 minutes where not great I actually think that the Lizard was not compelling at all they really failed on the villian big time if it wasn't for origin arc for Peter parker and the emotional layers that the story adds to this movie this movie would've been a bust.

Is it just me or did the lizard look pretty bad with the whole cgi and it did not look real at all. Maybe just me but the cgi looks like it was made a decade ago.

6.5/10

@SuspenseSmith

"Raimi is better at serving fan fair and pulp, like Army of Darkness.
Webb is better at breathing realistic humanity into a movie, like 500 Days of Summer."

Couldn't have said it better.

Thanks for that. I see your point of view.
