SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE 2 Producer Says VFX In Sequel Makes The First Movie Look "Quaint"

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is hailed as the best Spider-Man movie by many comic book fans, and from a visual standpoint, it's an animated adventure unlike many others. It was no great surprise when it later won an Academy Award, and there's a great deal of excitement surrounding the sequel.

Of course, very little is known about that beyond the fact it will continue to deepen the relationship between Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy (while likely adding Spider-Man 2099 into the mix).

COVID-19 recently saw Into the Spider-Verse 2 delayed by five months to October 2022, but producer Christopher Miller is keeping fans excited by sharing some details on Twitter. "The development of new groundbreaking art techniques being done for the next Spider-Verse movie are already blowing me away," he reveals. "It’s going to make the first movie look quaint."

That's a bold proclamation, and one which definitely points to the sequel being even bigger and better than the first instalment. How Sony Pictures will be able to push the boundaries of technology remains to be seen, but the franchise is no doubt going to continue going up from here.

@tmp3 - It's crazy, my brother and I went to see it just thinking it'd be a fun animated movie. But once that comics code came up in the opening, he turned to me and said, "this'll be special." And boy was it

@Dredd97 - I wish I could forget I saw it and experience it for the first time all over again, man

@tmp3 - Me too! They made Miles so compelling, but they also didn't skimp on making all the Spidey's lovable. Hell, even the small time Aunt May had, and she was the best since Rosemary Harris.

I'm so ready for this! I still think the first one is a perfect little gem and I don't need a sequel to it. But hey, since they're making it, I'll take it as an extra. I just hope they keep it as a Miles' story and that it's not gonna be a "let's go bigger and crazier with more characters" kind of deal. This rendition of Miles and his sweet coming of age story was the heart of the first film.

I wish I had an opportunity to see the first movie in theaters again. The experience of seeing that for the first time is something I don't think I'll ever forget. Incredible film.

I'm stoked for this! When the first one ended, I said I could watch like, 7 more of this, and I mean it. The world(s) of Spider-Man is/are so vast. All the characters and settings and plots. I'd love to see some symbiote stuff or Osborn family tree, and of course more Spider-Men.
