SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Webs-Up Third Best Monday EVER As It Closes In On $300M Domestic

Spider-Man: No Way Home continues to show what a genuine must-see movie can accomplish in this "pandemic era," taking in $37.1 million yesterday to give the threequel the third-best Monday of all time.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was easily the most highly-anticipated superhero movie since Avengers: Endgame, so while it's not exactly surprising to learn that the Sony Pictures threequel is performing so well at the box office, it's hard to imagine anyone expected it to do this well in the midst of a pandemic.

Tom Holland's third solo outing as the wall-crawler has been breaking records since it swung into theaters last week, and we now have another to add to the list. The latest BO updates reveal that No Way Home webbed-up $37.1M on Monday, giving it the third best result for that day ever behind 2018’s Black Panther ($40.15M) and 2015’s Star Wars: Force Awakens ($40.109M). The movie is now closing in on $300M in The U.S., and currently sits at $297.2M.

Clearly, the rise of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 hasn't dissuaded too many people from paying a visit to the multiplex, because Deadline reports that there's been no drop in ticket sales and theaters are not expected to close anytime soon.

At this stage, No Way Home reaching $1 billion is all-but guaranteed, but we'll be sure to keep you updated on its progress.

Have you guys been to see the movie yet? If so, what did you think? You can check out our review here.

I'm pleasantly surprised by this movie. By far the best MCU movie in years.

My only complaints are Ned existing, and the changes to the Electro character.

Everything else was pretty awesome.

@manofillintent1 - so 80 million global Monday. May be similar Tuesday. Tomorrow comes Sing 2 and Matrix 4, Sing can take some kids away but not big kids i imagine, but big kids don’t need parents with em, sometimes. I took mine last night to watch Spidey, my second time. One likes Tobey more than Andrew, not the other two. Ima ask em which of the three, for me it’s Tom hands down. Anyway Matrix probly Gon flop but mayb not. But if those two don’t affect Spidey much abs it stays consistent, lookin at 900 mill before the 2nd weekend. That I think puts this movie at 1.1, 1.2 by Monday. Dude that’s nuts

WOW

This is truly becoming historic

Feige the most hated and envied person in Hollywood

@WakandaTech - I definitely didn't go see this movie for Feige or any of the mcu connections. I saw this movie for the Tobey and Andrew connections.

@WakandaTech - I think feige is getting too much credit for this.

Without the works of others (better work infact) this movie wouldn't even be possible

@eGGtheGreat -

He made it happen

Without him Spiderman would off never been in the MCU to start off
and I'm sure he came up with the Multiverse idea for Spiderman to match ti up with Dr Strange MoM

@WakandaTech - this is literally the only good mcu spiderman movie though.

@eGGtheGreat - While I agree that it takes hundreds of people and their honest best to make a movie this awesome (from I hear, still haven't seen it), Feige is still the one steering the MCU ship and a lot of what we've seen since IM1 (not necessarily all) is his vision. That, and you have to give the guy credit for insisting that they reboot Spider-man if Marvel was going to be involved (and practically making Amy Pascal cry in the process (not that making women cry is cool, I'm just saying that he stuck to his guns on this and we got NWH ultimately)).

@StSteven - yes, but I haven't enjoyed most of the mcu. And I'm still mad Andrew Garfield got screwed out of a sequel.

@eGGtheGreat - In fact, Feige isn´t getting the credit he deserves. It was him that brought Spider-Man into The MCU. It was him who resurrected a dying character after the ASM 2 fiasco. It's him (and Marvel Studios) the creative force behind this Spider-Man franchise. If it was up to Sony, we would've had another mediocre/awful Spider-man movie. We only need to look at the Venom franchise or Bloodshot (even Morbius looks like a mediocre early 2000´s CBM) to see how Sony still makes CMB.
It's thanks to Feige and Marvel Studios that Spider-man is, once again, a major cinematic franchise.

@Moriakum - I disagree with everything you just said.

@eGGtheGreat - The worst MCU movie is still better than the two TASM movies put together.

@eGGtheGreat - One thing it's your opinion, if you don't like this itineration of Spider-man, that's fine, it's your opinion and I respect it. But that doesn't change the fact that the MCU Spider-Man movies are critical and box office sucesses, making the character a cinematic powerhouse again. And that's thanks to Feige/Marvel Studios. And those are facts.

I couldn't disagree more

@Moriakum - thats true, I just don't care about that honestly.

The transformer movies are box office successes and so are the fast and furious movies, but you'd have to pay me to watch them.

@eGGtheGreat - Well hey you are definitely entitled to you opinion and I'll never fault someone for having a differing opinion than mine as long as they don't try to present their opinion as fact, because, like, they're by definition two completely different things. Personally I have really enjoyed all the MCU movies so far (some more than others), so I'm curious what you haven't liked about the ones that you didn't enjoy.

Regarding Garfield, I would also liked to have seen what they would have done with a third movie, as for as messy the second one was they were setting up some interesting things that the Raime movies didn't do, especially if they had gone down the road that they did with his character in NWH. I'm confident that if he had known that not showing up to the dinner that his Sony overlords were expecting him to would have resulted in him losing his Spidey gig he would have dragged his sick ass there. I get that it was an honor thing (from what I've heard), but c'mon!

I'm so lucky that I saw this when I did, even though it kinda made that particular day extra busy for me, since they are about to tighten the COVID restrictions again here where I live, making the movie theaters close down again at least for the rest of the year.
