My first post here so please...be gentle.

Nostalgia Critic compares which Spider-Man is better. Sure the video is half an hour long but it's because he goes into detail. Personally I believe Nostalgia Critic is spot on and I do have to take his side. But I'd still like to know what you all think and why.

So, who do you think is better? Old or new Spidey?

Man. Fans of the Raimi films(of which i used to be one) sure have major resentment towards these new films.

Maybe that is why his name is the Nostalgia Critic. Because people don't go back and actually look at the films objectively, they remember how they felt about them when they were younger.

I'll admit fully that I loved the Raimi films 14 years ago (consequently the last time some people watched them)... but just because something came first doesn't make it better. Fact is we have a better Peter Parker, a better love interest, better dialogue, a better Aunt May (and I hate Sally Field), a better relationship between the leads, and more impactful scenes.

The Raimi films are loaded with camp, a Peter Parker who basically stares at things and cries, and who seems like someone else when he puts the suit on, and HORRIBLE dialogue.

Thought he made lots of valid points about both films. And I completed agree with the verdict.

Both series have flaws, but for me, TASM is better where it counts.

I will take Raimi's series over a couple of soulless, passion-free, cynical cash grabs made only to keep the rights from reverting back to Marvel any day.

I somewhat like Garfield more, but I don't really think we've had a great Spider-man film yet. Like critic said, there are ups and downs in all of those. Sure, Spider-man 2 is great, but it's too awkward and cheesy because of the relationship that it's unbearable. The new films however suffer from inconsistive narrative and too many characters, but the chemistry and acting is BY FAR superior to the original trilogy. If Marc could only get more confident in his directing, and get better screenwriters, I think we would have a perfect Spider-man film.
