Speaking with The Orlando Sentinel while touring to promote Anonymous, the Roland Emmerich directed political thriller - Rhys Ifans shared some information about working with Marc Web on next years The Amazing Spider-Man

"I put my whole body into ‘Spider-Man.’ It was a thrill to work with Marc Webb. He's like Roland Emmerich. He's doing blockbusters, but he has an 'indie' heart, an indie character-oriented sensibility.

"That was a very telling thing on the set. We knew it would be action-packed and epic and all that. But Marc made sure that the human dynamic was paramount, and that’s going to elevate the film possibly to a place that the other [ Spider Man] films got to.”

Rhys Ifans plays Dr. Curt Connor aka The Lizard in the Spider-Man reboot due for release on 3rd July 2012.

I honestly think that the vast majority of haters are Marvel die-hards who are irked by the fact that Marvel isn't directly involved with this project. It sucks that this isn't part of the MCU, but I want a PHENOMENAL Spidey film first and foremost! I think this film will do for Spidey what Batman Begins and TDK did for Batman!!

I never thought I´d ever hear the words Roland Emmerich and indie heart in the same sentence. Where in a RE movie is there any kind of indie heart?

This will be the best spidey movie ever for sure.

I'm a die hard Marvel guy, and do wish it was part of the MCU, HOWEVER, if there is one character that can easily stand on his own, its SPIDER-MAN.

This movie will blow us all away I guarantee it.

TEA - You always manage to find the dirty in everything, much love bro. much love.

This movie seems to have an Ultimate spiderman feel to it but it also seems pretty good from what we've seen so this may be the first decent spiderman film

Very interesting how he compared Webb to Emmerich - only a certain number of Hollywood people have that 'indie sensibility'. A lot of them think it's just about explosions and so-called stunning character reveals that get old real quick.

I wanna see the [frick]ing Lizard. Not sure about this film, still not convinced on the costume:p

I love to hear stuff like that! It's got the epic action of a blockbuster hit, but it keeps that heart and soul in the center of it all. I don't think any other superhero movie can say they've done that ;] Can't wait for 2012!

Why the hell does he have a piece of string growing out the back of his neck after he got bit by the spider? Is that supposed to be web or something? That doesn't make any sense. And the look of the new costume just looks stupid. I'm cool with the web shooters and all but the outfit just doesn't scream "The Amazing Spider-Man" in my opinion. To me it just says "Look at are version of spider-man, we're trying too hard to make it different from the other movies. Its better, we swear it!" I really don't think this film is going to do very well at all. I could be wrong. The general viewers are pretty much sheep, so put them in front of anything thats halfway visually stunning and they'll eat it up like it was the second coming! We shall see hollywood, we shall see. Well, thats my 2 cents and I'm all outta change!
