Sony and Insomniac recently announced that Spider-Man 2 will swing into stores this Fall. Now, we wait with bated breath for a trailer and gameplay reveal, and it's fair to say this sequel is among the most highly anticipated video games of all time.
We've seen a brief teaser confirming plans for Venom to appear (which was first teased in Spider-Man's post-credits scene), but viral marketing now appears to have kicked off in Australia. As you can see below, a brief live-action commercial shows a reporter talking about some criminals who have been webbed up by New York City's two wall-crawling protectors.
With that, Peter Parker and Miles Morales are depicted swinging away from the scene of the crime before Sony touts the fact PlayStation 5 consoles are finally in stock.
Some of you may be quick to point out that the TV spot promotes a "Spring 2023" launch for Spider-Man 2, leading to the possibility this might be fan-made. However, as it's an Australian promo, it's important to note that "Spring 2023" is the equivalent of "Fall 2023" in North America and Europe.
We recently caught up with Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal about the game and he shared a big update on how work is progressing and briefly teased what fans can expect.
"I’ve still got a little bit to do. It’s a massive game so I’m still doing a little bit of work," Lowenthal confirmed. "I know they’re confident about their release date and Insomniac has always been good about that. Obviously, I can’t really talk about the game much, but I will tell you that it’s astonishing."
The Super Bowl is fast approaching, so if we're lucky, a new look at the game will be with us within a matter of weeks.
