With the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 just a few short months away, excitement for the sequel is rapidly increasing. The wall-crawler remains one of Marvel's most popular superheroes and, based on Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, we can safely say we're in for another spectacular experience.
The game's plot has so far been kept a closely guarded secret by Insomniac, though we've known for some time now that Kraven the Hunter and Venom are going to target both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
Despite the presence of those brutal baddies, the ESRB has confirmed (via GameFragger.com) the franchise will keep its "T for Teen" rating (Batman: Arkham Knight, you might recall, shocked a lot of people when it landed an "M" for mature).
However, the explanation for that offers at least a handful of intriguing teases for what we can expect in Spider-Man 2.
"Cutscenes depict further instances of violence/blood," it reveals after the usual preamble. "A character choked to death; a dead body turned over; blood drops on a leaf. In some crime missions, characters can be seen trading unnamed drugs for weapons; drug packages can be seen in a car trunk. The words "pr*ck" and "a*s" appear in the game."
So, nothing too extreme or gory, though we can appreciate some of you feeling the mention of a character being "choked to death" could be considered a spoiler! Whether it will be one of Spider-Man 2's leads remains to be seen.
The synopsis for the game reads, "Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, return for an exciting new adventure in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise."
"Swing, jump and utilise the new Web Wings to travel across Marvel’s New York, quickly switching between Peter Parker and Miles Morales to experience different stories and epic new powers, as the iconic villain Venom threatens to destroy their lives, their city and the ones they love."
Spider-Man 2 is set to be released worldwide on October 20.
