Spider-Man 4 Script is in the Works

We finally have confirmation from Sam the Man Raimi himself, the much anticipated Spiderman 4 script is finally in the works and should be completed...

Well with no ground breaking news the last couple of weeks we finally get a trickle. Sam Raimi spoke to Sci Fi Wire regarding what stage the Spider Man 4 script is in.

"Right now, David Lindsay-Abaire ['Inkheart'] is working on a draft of the new picture," Raimi said Monday. "And he's hard at work, and hopefully we'll see something in about three months."

Sweet,, three months is a good amount of time for Mr. David Lindsay-Abaire to put some time and effort into a quality script. As long as Sam and company keep the Sony suits away from putting there two cents in (believe me, two cents is all there thoughts are worth) it has a chance to be a fan hit and not just a blind money maker for the studio.

There have been tons of speculation lately on who Spidey will go up against in the next installment of the franchise. Sam goes on to comment: "I'm not at liberty to discuss the villains yet," Raimi said. "I think I have to wait till the finished screenplay, and then it'd really be up to Sony Pictures and the producers to determine when they want to release that information. To them, it's usually a big, a big, big thing, a big moment where they want to present the villain with the proper respect or fear that he or she deserves."

Hopefully the main villain is not a she. Black Cat is cool and hopefully she has a cameo, but there is no way she has the firepower to be the main villain. Believe me the villain is already known, the script would not be possible to write if Sam hasn't picked one yet to focus on. Whatever villain Sam has chosen I am confident he will make it a success. They want a repeat of Spiderman 3 money but not the bad press that movie received.

Just do it right and make it the Lizard already?!

I would love to see Carnage as the villian if they can make part of the symbiote survive and actually make it a little believeable. Like having the piece they examined at Doc Connors lab...u get where Im going. If they insisted on having a second villian Lizard would be a good addition.

yeah, Carnage and Lizard are my picks, as long as they do it right...Spiderman 3 was just...ugh...

I'll see this movie if Tobey McGuire gets the boot. Otherwise (even as a diehard Spidey fan) I think the poor taste left in my mouth from Tobey's last outing as WebHead might just be too much. He was miscast in the first place and he proved it in Spider-Man 3.

IF YOU DONT WANT A REPEAT OF S3, LET RAIMI HAVE ARTISTIC CONTROL, AVI ARAD PUSHED FOR VENOM,FOR FANS..BUT HONESTLY THEY GOTTA LET RAIMI ALONE.HONESTLY, I HOPE ITS THE LIZARD, THATS THE CHARACTER THAT PETER IS MOST AFRAID OF.

I vote for the Lizard in 4 then enter Morbius in the 5 installment. Raimi has to have total control because he can do it right. Here a great idea!!! At the end of S4, have the HULK jump into the city and have do a big roar. This should be a great ending to a great movie and this will lead to S6! So cool!

Well hopefully they move on in Peter's life instead of having him play the geeky highschool/college kid in the first three movies. Have him working full time at the Daily Bugle ect. Tobey has gotten older so why not Peter? Personally I think they should shy away from symbiotes. They messed up im S3 with them and should just move on to another one of Spidey's rogue gallery. Don't give me wrong Carnage is my all time favorite Spidey villain. I've read Maximum Carnage a million times and still own the game for Super Nintendo! A Lizard/Kraven story would work best with a buildup for Morbius in the next movie.

The morbius idea is actually growing on me... but MAKE SPIDEY HAVE ONE LINERS DAMN IT

You know, they could make carnage and the lizard work, remember that Peter took a sample of the symbiote to doc conner's in the third movie. It is possible. Personally I would like to see the Lizard, and maybe mysterio. I think the addition of Black Cat would make for an interesting love triangle too

I can't say I agree with SpiderGoku25, it is your opinion. But honestly the whole movie kind of felt like X-3, it was rushed along, and I'm sorry, but those dancing scenes had to go, it didn't do anything for the story, it was just incredibly annoying. Everything in that movie just felt forced.

For Spidey 4, I would love to finally see any of the following: The Lizard, Kraven the Hunter, Carnage, or Electro.

What would be fantastic if they opened the movie for once with Spidey on his way to take out a B-Level villain like Rhino, or Shocker, a quick 30 minute fight, no need for a background on the character or origin, just quick and dirty. It'll feel more like watching a comic in my opinion and then jump right into the plot. But that's my two cents.

lizard and kraven! and introduction of mysterio with either scorpion or shocker. no carnage, all the movies have pg13 ratings and would not be great with him in it

i agree with stumblin, start it off with spidey fighting rhino or shocker

he kinda emphasized on "the fear that he or she wants to deserve". the only to villains left that would present fear left in a spiderman movie i think are carnage, morbius or the lizard.

How about instead of Lizard they have Freak and have Spiderman walk in on him smoking meth. lo jk! But for those who do not know who Freak is it s adrug addict who stole Dr.Conner's Lizard syrum and transformed into a reptilian monster who just wants to get high. My favorite panel is when Spidey walks into the meth den and sees him and goes "Is he smoking meth or something?" as Freak turns around with a pipe in his mouth. Lol!

I agree with most people that Spiderman 3 was not a patch on 2. But due to the rape of venom and some source material we seem to forget that it was actually close to being very good if not great.

Sandman was awesome! His origin scene was brilliant and (IMO) moving. The only problem with him was that he was Ben's killer, but I was willing to forgive them for that. The dance, yes, although it was a little too much it was nothing we hadn't seen before. Rami did the same sort of thing in the 1st 2 movies and it's not meant to be taken seriously!

The biggest issues with 3 surround Venom. His involvement is what rushed the story. And the 10mins screen time he had was just pathetic! Venom should have run into the next movie so the rest of the story could have time to be told properly. Due to his involvement we class this film as a disaster instead of a disappointment.

Rami didn't want Venom and that alone gives me hope that the next film will be back to "Doc Oc" standards.

when it says "(Inkheart)" does that mean he wrote the movie Inkheart? because if he did, thats going to be friggin ridiculous in a horribly bad way. did any of you see Inkheart? that movie was as epic fail as could possibly be in failures.

it doesnt make me any more optimistic about Spidey 4... sigh... and i honsetly dont really like Raimi as a director. all three movies have been lack luster. theyre good in the moment, ok right after and really not even something i look back on after.

here's hoping theres a great comeback for spiderman!

spiderman 3 was bad because it was too crowded with villains, didnt take itself seriously enough, and most of all they made spiderman [frick]ing emo. why the [frick] would you seriously go ahead and make spiderman [frick]ing emo?! its ridiculous!!

for 4, they should do Lizard, they have to--they've built up for it too much. And then they should also develop for morbius for no. 5. With Lizard being the main villain, they would show peter in school more, and morbius can be shown as a academic rival to peter, setting up the character for when he turns villain in the sequel.

raimi likes vampires and shit like that, so this time he wont stubbornly screw the character over if morbius is indeed a villain. and Keven--s3 wasnt half as dark as it should have been...instead of making peter grow dark and bad, they simply made him emo!

They need to do the Lizard he is already set up. If they don't do him now then it's just going to be annoying.

The best possible duo of villains they could do is either Kraven and the Lizard or Kraven and Morbious

It's hard for me to look forward to a 4th movie, I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the 3rd onw.

Am I the only one here who kind of wants to see a Spider-Man 3 reboot? Maybe not all of it, but if they go back, rewrite a few things, reshoot some stuff, take some things out. For instance, have Spider-Man actually (and gradually) delve into the darker side without being a piano-playing, SaturdayNight Fever-Struttin, eye-rollin, "make me some cookies, woman!", spoiled 12 year old emo girl. Then out of nowhere have him backhand Mary Jane, making him about as evil as you can make the character while still making him redeemable. Basically he went from about a 7 to a 100 on the Spider-Man tolerable evil scale. Yes he was pretty dark fighting the Sandman in the sewer but really no more then when he fought the Sandman's partner in the first movie.

Perhaps have the last big battle be with Spider-Man in the black suit, and have the very last scene be with the formation of Venom.
(I realize of course how rediculous and impractical it would be to reboot a single movie, but I can still dream.)

As for the 3 villains, two of them being brand new, I find it ironic that in the special features of the SM2 DVD Sam Raimi reflects on SM1, and the original idea of having the Goblin team up with Dock Ock. But they (presumably him and the producers(?)), decided not to overcrowd the movie with too many villains. So what made them think that 3 was now a good idea? Although I'm hearing lately that Sam Raimi had less creative control over this movie than the others, which would make sense. I find it hard to believe that anyone who could put out a film like SM2 also puts out SM3.

Howlett04 i agree, Spidey 3 was not a bad movie..it just wasnt as good as it should have been! Venom was the only major prob i had with it. Hell i even liked the emo dance! Jesus Spidey has always been a fun character..or at least mixed fun with more serious elements..it made me laugh anyway. The 2nd dance in the resteraunt bothered me more..that really seemed out of place..but it ended well.

As for the next movie, i think Lizard would be best..but also i like some of the lesser villains like Shocker, Scorpion and Tombstone, so i hope theres a small role for a 2nd villain..but not overkill like the 3rd one. But in saying that i really hope Black Cat is in it..starting out as a villain and then helping Spidey out..now i know thats really cliched and was even done already with Harry..but i think they could find a way to make it work and not seem stale.

Check out this fan made poster...

that is an awesome poster Ror, i really hope Cat is in this one there were rumors of her being in 3 but those turned out to be false and that sucked.

If they go with two villains it would be cool to have Cat backing up Spidey at the end kinda like Harry did in 3 but not have it seem forced like that was, hell even if they go with 1 really strong villain and have Cat help Spidey beat him with team work, actually i like that idea better then 2 villains i don't think a super hero movie has done anything like that yet 2 against 1 where the villain is out numbered instead of the hero that would be sweet.

spider-man 3 was awesome and sure a few things bugged me but ppl who complain about lack of story just look dumb. I can't wait for #4; screw carnage, lets get some Bruce Campbell Myterio this time, hopefully as good as in the SM2 video game.

yeah they need to bring in the lizard otherwise his character will have very loose ends. I like the goblins, and I want Carnage in time, but not too soon. Tobey Maguire is very good at Peter Parker, I wouldn't have it any other way. I think it would be cool to start the movie off by fighting a well known villain right away either way ill be understanding and accept any movie...I didn't like the dancing in SM3 because it felt like they were celebrating the last SM movie and tha made me sad, but i saw it with my girlfriend and she told me she didnt like the jerkiness towards MJ but i explained to her why he was acting like that. :(

i'm leaning towards mysterio-lizard. OR! Just the one villain for the movie (which would be very good!!) I'm thinkin' Mysterio. Bruce Cambell would be a great pick.

OR

Actually have Spidey tie in with the rest of the universe and have him meet with someone like ohh i dont know Tony Stark, Hank Pym, or Nick Fury for some suggestions

This is my idea for a Movie. As it is my idea, in all reality i don't expect the movie to be anything like this.

Peter Parker is enjoying life after the whole Venom incadent. Things are going well and he's planning on preposing to Mary Jane in a few days.Interupt the intro with a c or d class supervillian like rocket racer or the vulture. Spider-Man chases him down and after a long race through New York finally subdues the villian ontop of a building. The purb wines some sob story and Peter decides to let him go. Venom survived the blast, do to the suit directly absorbing Brock as its host. However, it now needs to feed on other flesh. Cut and do a few quick scenses of the kingpin buying a couple of suits from an oction, preferablly from a iron man big-wig as to promote a future crossover. Peter turnes the pictures to John Jameison and gets paid well for his new job as directed in spiderman. Jameison, a little hot with Peter about the desk job and looking for an excuse to fire him hires Mac Gargon to tail the hero and find out how Peter takes his pictures of Spiderman. Do a few life scense of Peter and Mj. Move on to a few nights later were Peter takes Mary Jane out to an expensive resturaunt. Right when he is about to propose to her, have a tremor shake the building. M.J. looks at Peter and nods her head in understanding. Peter rushes out and heads twoards the center of the tremers only to come face to face with a robbery in progress by shocker and Venom.
