Tobey Maguire on Spider-Man 4's production problems!

Despite recent reports, Tobey Maguire doesn't think Spider-Man 4 has become a tangled mess...

"Like anything, it's a process," Maguire said, "We're just in the midst of the process. We have a lot of great stuff in terms of story and script. We're just trying to dial it in and get it ready as quickly as possible. Of course, these movies are a very big undertaking and take a lot more time than a drama or something more straightforward."

Maguire went on to say that the plan is to still release the movie in 2011 and that he's enthusiastic about Spidey's future.

"Not only do I have specific ideas, but the ideas are evolving on the page. It's all happening right now. It's all sort of coming together. It's very exciting to me. I think the evolution of the character is really exciting, to be rooted in the history of what we've done already and to have a continuity, yet have a progression or evolution."

He knows shit. He's just playing to the crowd like his contract says to. But i agree with MovieTheaterLad's comment... even if it's after mine... doesn't that just blow your mind?

Lizard and Kraven people, let's make it happen. Chop chop!

Oh and get Gerard Butler to play Kraven... it shouldn't be rocket surgery, really.

... Nice gloss, McGuire.. But I'm just not buying it.

Not placated in the least. Yes of course it's a process, and every tiny scrap of evidence we have seen points to the process bing seriously interrupted by a director that seems to be losing his grip.

Keep in mind, that if they (Sony) lets it die so that it would go back to Marvel. You do know what that would mean. It would mean that Spiderman would be revived and reborn under The Disney Umbrella.

Of course that may not be a bad thing as long as Disney allows Marvel the creative freedom to make Spiderman right and they stay out of it with the exception of helping to distribute, promote, and advertise it via the hardcore marketing campaign that it does to its movies.

I think that it'll happen, in due time. I think that it will all be sorted out within the next few months. Spider-Man 4 will happen. ((as will 5......and maybe 6 and 7))

I wish I could believe this but this sounds more like something he has to say as an actor set to star in the movie...

Im still crossing my fingers and hoping it'll all be sorted and get made ASAP! Spider-Man is my favourite comic book character and after the shitty Spider-Man 3, I want to see him back on the big screen and better than ever!

this could be a quote from any actor about any movie. Actors and directors all sing from the same tiered over-used song sheet. Every movie has "ideas evolving", "a larger scale", "a darker tone", "something never seen before". But when we see the finished article it's usually the same glossy recycled story. Hearing this over and over again bores me, whether it's said by Toby (I still wet the bed) Mcguire or Robert (been there, done that) Downey Jr. For once I'd like to hear their real thoughts.

See, I think after Spider-Man 3, they shouldn`t be allowed to make more. They made painful prison love to Venom as a character, he was the most anticipated character ever and the biggest let down.

When kids break things, you punish them. You don`t give them millions to buy more things to break.

yeah he's just trying to cover up but as long as their not completely giving up on it i'm happy. don't mind a little delay if it means a better Spider-Man movie then the last one but don't make us wait too long damn it. and why is everyone for Gerard Butler's nuts for Kraven? I don't agree with Kraven being in any of the installments but the more perfect actor and spitting image of Kraven would be Oded Fehr......he's got the accent and the look....check it out....http://www.alicia-logic.com/capsimages/db_044_OdedFehr.jpg

SuperSpiderMan5778- Oded's got the accent and the look but lacks the talent to show off a real ferocious behaviour naturally. Gerard does it superbly without breaking a sweat. Oded also has a very weak voice.

maguires still a great actor in my opinion. i think he would have made a better villain than good guy. Same with christian bale. Bale needs to play an evil character.

Guess Maguire doesn't realize how bad Spidey 3 is and that he's too old for the role anyway.

hey everybody, i wasn't sure where to post this, so forgive me if this is wrong, but i would like to show everyone a new spiderman video i edited together:

anyways, i believe this movie will come together, to be honest, i think all the blue avatar stuff along with everything else is one big joke and i doubt the studio would even blink towards having it, i do feel, however, that raimi is being stubborn with the vulture issues.. i wouldn't mind seeing if it came down to it, a vulture movie, and even anne hathaway as vulturess/valeria toomes, but no black cat/felecia hardy hybrid, save the character for later if you can't keep em' separated! lol
