James Gunn was nowhere to be seen at the
Avengers: Endgame premiere and that was reportedly because he's busy working on
The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. Further emphasising that point is the fact that the filmmaker has now taken to Instagram to share one his storyboards for the DC Comics movie.
As you can see below, it's damn near impossible to figure out what it shows but he's clearly starting to put together ideas for the sequel and the casting process has been gaining steam in recent weeks too.
In terms of the plot of
The Suicide Squad, very little has been revealed and we've heard conflicting reports about it being both a sequel and reboot. The truth, it seems, is somewhere in the middle but we know that Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Jai Courtney will be reprising their roles from the first instalment as Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller, and Captain Boomerang.
Idris Elba was originally going to take over from Will Smith as Deadshot but plans changed and we no longer know who he's playing. John Cena, meanwhile, is also being lined up for a key role here. Once Gunn has finished working on this movie, he'll return to the MCU for
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
