Filmmaker James Gunn remains vocal on social media, and an Instagram Q&A with The Suicide Squad writer and director has resulted in plenty of fresh intel being revealed to fans! 

Keeping fans entertained yesterday evening, Gunn was asked about a wide range of topics, and among them was the sequel's rating. He's already confirmed that the film's rating has been decided on, and when asked whether it will end up with an R, he played coy saying, "Wait and see."

An R-Rating seems likely, but Warner Bros. could decide otherwise after Birds of Prey bombed. 

The San Diego Comic-Con was canceled on Friday, which means Warner Bros. will be unable to hold its normal presentation in Hall H. However, despite all the complications and delays caused by the coronavirus, Gunn tells fans that us seeing footage from The Suicide Squad this year remains "likely."

That could mean a sneak peak will be revealed in July as part of an online Comic-Con showcase, something many fans are optimistic will be the case given how quiet things have been. Remember, trailers for films like Eternals and Venom 2 were expected to be online, but with so much uncertainty, that hasn't proved to be the case, and there's no sign of them now.

The Suicide Squad is one of those properties that actually deserve a Rated R rating.

BoP being a flop won’t have any effect on SS. Plenty of R-rated movies have exceeded expectations and SS is a perfect property to be R-rated.

I am confused. DC fans were saying they did not want dark films after the Snyder years ...and then they tried to copy Marvel. Now they are making R rated films. Now they hire a Marvel director and want both slapstick and R rated violence. It is yet again the wrong direction. It is clear to me that DC had the most success with "grounded" films (Dark Knight, Joker, Man of Steel) than with any of the other Marvel clone films they made with Aqua-man as the lone exception.

"We don't want dark DC films" and "Probably Superman shouldn't be a depressed jerk, nor Batman a trigger-happy idiot" still aren't the same thing though. So far there isn't really anything suggesting that Reeves's The Batman is going to be particularly light fare, and people seem to be really looking forward to that one.

@Forthas - Haha just because something is R doesn't mean it's dark. Have you seen Caddyshack? The Hangover? Besides, those are all meh to bad movies, save for The Dark Knight. Why shouldn't they let their movies organically be what they are. Shazam was fun and light hearted. Aquaman was goofy. Wonder Woman was more serious. This can be R if it has to be. Hopefully this is R rated tired of all these watered down PG rated comic book movies, but I blame the success of the MCU movies and it's fans who think every comic book characters should be in PG rated movies. Imo most of these MCU fans are not real comic book fans and only fans of the movies. I loved that Joker director Todd Philips pitched to WB about not having all the DC movies be shared universe films and they actually listened, I wish Kevin Feige would allow these directors and writers to do more of theirvown thing instead of getting into conflicts and kicking them to the curb cause their vision is in line with his.

@Liverpool4life - LOL R rated movies are some characters that need an R rating to really work and not be watered down to cater to kids and families. Blade, Deadpool, The Punisher, Daredevil, Jessica Jones to name some all work better with R rating and a darler universe.

Im gonna catch flack for this but I think making this movie R is a tone deaf decision given the circumstances and history with this company's R films. Yes Joker was a success but Joker also is barely even a comic book movie, its more of a character study that happens to have a clown motif. This is a whole different beast.

the first SS was by all accounts a terrible movie but it made good bank because it was a superhero ensemble film and PG-13. They tried doing something similar with Harley Quinn but made it R and the movie was a flop. I haven't seen either so I cant say if BOP was better or worse than the first one.

This movie is looking like its gonna be DC's Guardians of the Galaxy, which is by no means a bad thing, but slapping that R rating on it gives em freedom to curse and swear more sure, but it may also hurt their box office intake. We are clearly not at a point yet where any superhero movie is box office safe.
