THE SUICIDE SQUAD: Nathan Fillion's TDK Gets The Spotlight In This Latest Clip

Another new clip from James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is now online, and this latest sneak peek puts the spotlight on the rather useless Detachable Kid (Nathan Fillion) as he unleashes his, erm, powers.

Another clip from James Gunn's The Suicide Squad has been released online (via IGN), and this one puts the spotlight on Nathan Fillion as TDK.

In this latest sneak peek, the members of Task Force X find themselves pinned down on the beach shortly after landing on Corto Maltese, but Amanda Waller's team has a mighty secret weapon at their disposal: The Detachable Kid!

Okay, so this poor bastard is about as useful as a chocolate teapot - but seeing his bizarre abilities in action does make for a very funny visual gag.

I caught a screening of the movie this morning, and it really is something special. Be sure to check back for our full review on the 28th.

"Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Bell Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out — even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today's do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin, and everyone's favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese."
"Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave...and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them."

We recently found out that the movie was officially rated R for "strong violence and gore, language throughout, some sexual references, drug use and brief graphic nudity."

The Suicide Squad is set to premiere on HBO Max and in theaters on August 6.

Guys, it's such a great movie. I laughed and cried my ass off. Also, prepare to fall hopelessly in love with Ratcatcher 2.

@dracula - Not sure I’d wanna see that. I definitely get how someone could go silly with it but I think I’d wanna see it played more straight than Gunn typically does.

That’s a good question!

Who DOES pick the team? I mean if the objective is to “succeed”…whoever picks these folks with lame powers (except for the comic element to a audience) is not really good at their job.

@IronGenesis - WALLER. OBVIOUSLY AMANDA WALLER. Come on man.

@PsychoBatemen - that doesn’t really make sense then.

She seems very serious woman who is committed to her job.

Very out of character I guess to pick this roster?

@IronGenesis - Every team needs a Yamcha.

@IronGenesis - I think her hands are tied as far as who the government will allow her to pick. I mean that's the way it's been explained away in the comics. The government is like, "We'll let you do this. But these are the people you can choose from to make your team." That's part of the reason why it's called Suicide Squad because they're not SUPPOSED to actually pull off any missions. The government can claim plausible deniability when things go south. And when things go REALLY south and villains die, they can get another villain off the streets and out of Belle Reve. It's really a win-win for the government. Not so much for Amanda Waller and the Suicide Squad.
