The Suicide Squad released its first trailer on Friday (alongside a series of character posters), and we now have a couple of TV spots with even more great footage from the craziest DC movie to date.

There's more dialogue between Bloodsport and Peacemaker, a new look at the former's inventive arsenal, Captain Boomerang wielding his signature weapons, and a very scared-looking Savant. It remains to be seen when we'll get another trailer for the movie (these promos are hyping the first one's release), but expect to see much more from The Suicide Squad over the coming months.

After that big Starro reveal and the craziness of seeing Task Force X in action, The Suicide Squad is 2021's most highly anticipated comic book movie for many fans, and it feels like that trailer only really scratched the surface. After all, there were lots of characters we didn't end up seeing.

"Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A," reads the synopsis. "Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese."

"Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave...and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them."

The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021.

Hell yeah, can't wait for this. I can already tell King Shark will be my favorite character. Also I hope Cap. Boomerang makes it out alive at the end.

@PrinceOfPersia -

I have a theory I posted on an earlier article. And now I'm really thinking its gonna happen after that teaser looking like Capt. Boomerang is surrounded and ambushed.

TheBlueMorpho - 3/26/2021, 12:36 PM

"I'm thinking there are 2 separate teams in the movie. The team at first when you see Flag walking with them in front of the American flag. They all get killed except Flag then the next team with Harley, Bloodsport and them. I hope I'm wrong cause if I'm right then that means they do Captain Boomerang dirty."

@TheBlueMorpho - Yeah, I also was thinking the same seeing the trailer. I was thinking Harley is in the first team too, and she and Flag survive, or Harley is taken hostage. But I still hope Cap. Boomerang can still make out alive at the end of the movie. Another one i hope they don't kill of is King Shark.

I'm already sold on this. A DCEU movie that doesn't take itself super serious? Gimme more of that

In terms of DC we know we will get for sure in the near future, id probably rank my interest
1.The Batman
2.The Suicide Squad
3.Shazam Wrath Of The Gods
4.Black Adam
5.The Flash

Hopefully soon Static and Blue Beetle can be added to the list

@dracula - man i hope static , blue bettle and zatanna connect somehow , a teenage mini crossover would dope

@Krav - Doubt Zatanna will be a teenager, she is suppose to be in justice League Dark. Really if they want a magical teen, there is Tracy 13, she was even Blue Beetle's love interest in Jamie's original comic.

Although if you want to throw in another teen hero, im sure DC has plenty of others.

Although only problem is most of them are sidekicks and their mentors havent been established.

Huh, could have had a bad ass Cassandra Cain solo if Birds Of Prey hadnt messed up her character

I can't believe they got Starro in there. Part of me wishes they saved Starro for the eventual Justice League reboot, but I guess they can do that too.

It does make a weird kind of sense for Starro to be the villain of The Suicide Squad.

The OG Suicide Squad have their roots on Dinosaur Island (in The War that Time Forgot from the '60s). In The New Frontier, Darwyn Cooke revealed Dinosaur Island to be a sentient being called 'The Center'. It was then heavily implied that a remnant of 'The Center' grew into Starro, in deep space.

So chronologically, this being was a main adversary for the Suicide Squad before he was an adversary for the Justice League.

I wonder if James Gunn was cognisant of this when he picked Starro for the film.

@GwenLantern - honestly I’m glad they’re doing Starrio cause the chances of a reboot lid Justice League is a good 10 to 15 yrs from now
GwenLantern
GwenLantern - 3/29/2021, 4:05 AM
@JoJo1982 - Yeah. And that's a good thing.

But it doesn't really have to be THAT long. Iron Man to The Avengers was only four years. I think DC could do it in 6. So if The Batman is Iron Man and that's 2022, then maybe 2028 could be when we see a well-deserved and proper Justice League?

@GwenLantern - Did you include in your calculations how much time will it take for snyderbros to let go and move on? Cuz if they announce a new JL movie and they are still at it, its gonna be an online shitshow?
GwenLantern
GwenLantern - 3/29/2021, 6:54 AM
@Elbarto63 - Adjusted for SnyderCult: Anywhere between 2030 and never.
JoJo1982
JoJo1982 - 3/29/2021, 9:15 AM
@GwenLantern - the difference between the Avengers is that we already had a JL movie that hit the theaters and it didn’t do well at all. WB won’t take that chance anytime soon if ever and none of the films that they’re currently making is definitely not leading up to another JL movie.
Matt Reeves Batman is set in its own world
Wonder Woman, Flash, and Aquaman is currently in the same universe but not.
Nothing on Green Lantern other than a tv show that’s not connected to the others
Cyborg is pretty much gone
Superman is rumored to be another character and not Clark
Everything is in a mess with the new universe, right now that a new justice League movie in 2028 or even 2029 is still too early
