This is going to be nuts!

Following the release of a series of character posters (we've added them to our original poster article here), Warner Bros. just dropped the first trailer for The Suicide Squad

Confirming that Starro will indeed be the movie's big bad, this sneak peek features a tonne of huge reveals and character moments which point to this take on Task Force X being the best we've seen in any format. It looks like an absolute riot, and while it's hard to say who will end up stealing the show, something tells us Sylvester Stallone's King Shark will be a highlight.

Visually, the action looks phenomenal, and it's clear James Gunn had a blast working on this one (it's also very R-Rated, and definitely doesn't look like a movie kids should watch).

"Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A," reads the synopsis. "Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese."

"Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave...and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them."

The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021.

@CyberNigerian - I thought thats "spider" like device Steppenwolf used to read that Atlanteans mind was a nod to Starro. This is better.

@CyberNigerian - Was the mind control/reading machine Darkseid used in ZSJL a nod to Starro?

@WeAreDenim - Anyone else think that everyone in the slow motion American Flag group shot (aside from Flagg) dies shortly after that? Just interesting that you don’t see any of them (again, aside from Flagg) in the rest of the trailer. Which sucks for Boomerang! He deserves more.
