THE SUICIDE SQUAD: Zack Snyder Will Reportedly Serve As An Executive Producer On The Sequel
We recently learned that James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) is taking the helm of The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. but it sounds like Zack Snyder isn't finished with the DC Extended Universe quite yet.
After what happened with Justice League, common sense says we won't see Zack Snyder back in the DC Extended Universe at the helm of a future comic book adaptation featuring those characters or any others - but that doesn't mean he's completely wiped his hands of these iconic creations.
The filmmaker has already confirmed that he'll serve as an executive producer on Wonder Woman 1984 and in The Hollywood Reporter's story about James Gunn taking the helm of The Suicide Squad, they mention that "Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder are acting as executive producers."
While this may sound like Snyder will be working alongside Gunn on the sequel, it's important to note that he could just be an executive producer thanks to a previously agreed deal with Warner Bros. and it doesn't mean he'll be involved in a creative capacity. After all, Stan Lee was always given that title on the Marvel movies but didn't have anything to do with them beyond his cameos.
Snyder helmed a number of movies in the DCEU and was supposed to work on a trilogy of Justice League movies, but those plans obviously came to naught (you can read more about that by clicking here).
