CASTLE Actress Molly Quinn To Voice SUPERGIRL In Untitled 2013 DC Animated Feature

The young actress reveals that she will provide the voice for Supes' little cousin in a future DC animated movie. No title yet, but from the details provided by Yahoo it would seem to be an adaptation of the Superman: Brainiac arc..

There was no Castle panel at this year's SDCC, but that didn't stop 18-year old actress Molly Quinn from stopping by to soak up the geekiness. The self professed "fan-girl" revealed to Tv Guide Magazine that she would be providing the voice for Supergirl in a 2013 DC project - "I'm so excited to be a part of the DC family, not to mention helping Superman fight crime. Yes, I am a supergirl!"

The movie's title wasn't revealed, but according to Yahoo..

The film adapts a 2008 story by Geoff Johns featuring Superman's nemesis Brainiac and the bottle city of Kandor, which survived the destruction of Krypton, Superman's home planet.

As any Superman fan will know, that would be Superman: Brainiac, which ran from Action Comics #866-870. So, DC still seem determined to focus their animated output on every Superman and Batman story out there, but if the quality remains up to the usual standard, fans shouldn't have too much to complain about.

Sounds pretty awesome, still feel a bit let down by the lack of animated movies outside of Batman, Supes and the JL. Which is kind of a shame after the pretty varied first few years with Green Lantern: First Flight and Wonder Woman.

Superman: Brainiac is one of my favorite modern Superman stories. This is a geek dream come true. It will probably be released to coincide with the theatrical release of Man of Steel.

Superman vs. The Elite was surprisingly very very good. Keep 'em coming, DC.

If it's what It think it is, the film will be about the Action Comics 866-870 ("Brainiac" parts 1 through 4).

The most memborable scene with Supergirl from that story-arch was this one:

I am not a fan of other Kryptonians. I understand Zod as he represents what Superman would be if abused his Earth powers, and as such he has no connection to him so retains that feeling of being the only one of his kind and not knowing if all Kryptonians are like Zod.

Having Supergirl, Krypto and Superboy takes so much away from some of the main characteristics of Superman. So hope movies never introduce these over characters.

Yeah, thought GL first flight was awesome so films outside of Supes and Bats can be done well, however I expect nothing but Superman animated films leading too MoS.

I just hope the Animation is better the last DC release, with that gorilla looking superman.

@Kinghtrider - you hope they never introduce the other characters... except Superboy Prime... and Power Girl, maybe.

Can't remember the last time I saw a Superman or Batman animated movie from DC/WB. It seems they do every other character except for them!

@Knightrider I agree BUT it's obvious that these characters are popular so the companies want to maximize their profits by making more of them. Look at Batman, Spiderman, Hulk, and Iron Man, they all have various characters with similar suits and abilities. They expand them to target a wider demographic and I agree that it dilutes the original.

DC is great w/ animation (-) that new superman animated movie & green lantern, great story but they slacked off on the graphics which is one of the best things about their animations to me.. I'm intrigued to see how this goes.

@worldbreaker - They are constantly casting and recasting voices for the DC animated world. This shouldn't be a surprise.

I've watched all of these movies (except for Doom and Superman vs. the Elite) and it seems that the level of quality for non-Batman stories are just lacking. Every Superman and Justice League falls a little flat, and even though I bought some of them for Whedon-y actors (Fillion, Glau), those just didn't excite me like Bats does continually. But, perhaps I'm biased (see the avatar)

Molly Quinn is a sharp, young actress. I will not comment on her hotness being I will feel like a perverted old guy. Whoops...guess I just did. :-P Bring on the DC Animated features!

I think it's safe to say they'll cut the scene where Brainiac abducts Supes, and some hentai-ish shit goes down. Also, I would've prefered Birthright, or Last Son. Brainiac isn't even in my top 10 Supes stories.
