More From David Goyer On MAN OF STEEL; Teases Lex Luthor

Man Of Steel screen writer, David Goyer, recently sat down to talk about the film. While a wide range of topics were discussed, the one that stood out was a tease that Lex Luthor just might find his way in to the movie.

With all the secrecy surrounding Man Of Steel, information about the movie and it's plot has been a little sparse. Screen Writer David Goyer sat down with I Am Rouge to talk about the film and shed some new light on it. One of the things they talked about was seeing star Henry Cavill in the Superman suit for the first time. "Henry is a really nice guy and it’s not always that way. I was like, holy crap that’s Superman! I mean I tell my sons that I work with Superman and Batman. I went and visited the set with my six year-old and I timed it so that Henry was in the suit. We showed up and he was like, “Wow, you do work with Superman!” So I got a lot of cred with my kids for that," he said.

Another subject he touched on was the decision to cast Laurence Fishburne as Perry White. A choice he said he thought was perfect, and went on to say he thoughtfan reaction to the casting was silly. "You just want to get the best actor," Goyer explained.

While rumors have swirled, the general consensus is that Superman's main nemesis, Lex Luthor, will not be involved in Man Of Steel. Not so fast according to Goyer, who coyly said when asked why he chose not to include Lex in the story, " I don’t think anyone has ever confirmed that we haven’t included him."

Goyer also noted that as of right now they are only taking this one movie at a time. They didn't go into Man Of Steel looking to make a trilogy. Goyer said he took his que from producer Christopher Nolan who always says, “Put everything you have in this film and worry about the sequel once the movie is done.” So it looks like they will take the same approach they did with The Dark Knight Trilogy and just focus on making great movies.

To check out what Goyer had to say about doing some rewrites on Godzilla, The Invisible Man, being proud that Blade ushered in the modern comic book movie, head on over to I Am Rouge. For the latest on Man Of Steel, make sure to check back here at CBM.

David Goyer - He's far from a comic-book god - remember he was executive/producer on the most shit-tastic comicbook film ever: Blade Trinity.

If it wasn't for the style over substance writer and director, I wouldn't feel torn on whether to see it or not cause I probably would want to see it.... Goyer did the Blade movies as the sole writer. Outside of the story, Goyer did the writing on his own and Snyder, well I'm not going into that one. I just wish I could get excited for this.

Yeah, no teasers for the next film at all like there wasn't a teaser for Joker in Batman Begins... right... :P

As long as they do the movie well I don't care how they concentrate on it. :P

Goyer gets DC characters, there's no question there. Also, that story about his son, that is awesome!

Here's to hoping for a LexCorp/Lex Luthor reference in MOS!!!

I want to see Lex build a suit with Kryptonite built into the suit, so we can see them fight it out. I want to see Darkseid done right, as well as Doomsday with Superman eventually being killed saving the earth, possibly with him being reborn or coming back in some way. PThere's plenty of good villains to choose from.

People still trying act like they dont like TDKR. TDKR was great, stop trying to jump on the hating bandwagon because most of ya'll cant tell the what is really a plot hole and make up stuff just so.

Can't wait for MOS. Glad this movies is full of secrecy and people not spoiling anything in the title of articles on this site like they did with TDKR.

I like how he said fanboy reaction to the casting of Perry White was silly, I thought that same thing.

I have still have strong reservations about this flick due to the director, but I will save my judgement until after seeing the thing. Snyder did pull one cracking film out of the bag in Dawn of the Dead. Hopefully, Man of Steel will be the long awaited runner up.

Yeah, Luthor shadowy observing thingy must be bought so that the storyline for a future sequel has a red line. Yeah Goyer is a cool and modest guy and great storyteller, remember whiners, there is no such thing as a perfect artist, every once a while things can happen with a lot of factor, either its a budget, intrusion from the studio, etc. For example: Whedon wrote Alien Ressurection.

So please be a good and decent human being and respect and appreciate others work. Or if you think you are a better artist than them, let us see your work get made.
Peace and out.

@HydraBob- Nope. I don't remember Lex Luthor ever having actually APPEARED in a single Superman film. Reason being- the real-estate swindler we've seen in every Superman film was NOT Lex Luthor. Not the REAL Lex Luthor anyway.

Lex has never had a proper portrayal. So you and all the other Lex-haters should just be quiet already. It's annoying. Even IF Lex appears in the movie, what's the big [frick]ing deal anyway? It won't take away from the action and fighting between Superman and Zod.

Just stop bitching about Lex already [frick]

Godzillafart, BB, TDK, and TDKR are unanimously considered fantastic movies. If you don't think so that is fine, doesn't make any difference in how well the general consensus is.

Its like saying theres nothing special about The Godfather, go ahead and think it, but the vast majority would disagree with you.

No film is loved by every single person, so the best thing to do is attain the majority consensus.

they really need to bring in doomsday in part 2 .. have doomsday kill superman in the end of #2 and lead into a justice league movie .. where the plot is the league coming together to stop doomsday and the superman imposter the eradicator..

@ juliez-

You could be right- but I'm very skeptical that col hardy is luthor
-----------

Nice interview clip- personally I don't want a "trilogy" - I want an ongoing series.
But as long as we finally get an epic superman film I honestly don't care.
