RUMOR: Update on Untitled Superman Casting

One of my sources who I have been in contact with for some time provided me with an update to all the daily rumours flying around on every news site across the internet.

I have been an an occasional annonymous scooper on this site for sometime providing some vital scoops that have gone unnoticed by the rest of the world with a high mojority turning out to be true, so please take my word on what I have to say here.

One of my sources that lives in LA provided me with this update to all the recent rumours surrounding the Superman project, helmed by Zack Snyder.

"Every name linked with the villain role so far is a complete fabrication. I don't believe that they have even started thinking about casting the villain yet, which by the way IS NOT General Zod I just don't know where all these supposed "close sources" get their information unless they are deliberately sending out false information. From what I've heard, one of the villains is John Corben who is known as Metallo in the comics and that Zack Snyder's aim is to get Joe Manganiello to play him."

I trust this source more than 100% and has been right on various occasions and was the person who provided me with the information that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be playing Alberto Falcone.

The Untitled Superman Reboot is Directed by Zack Snyder (300 & Watchmen) and Produced by Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder from a Story by Christopher Nolan and David Goyer with Screenplay by David Goyer. It will star Henry Cavill, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane.

Your source was wrong about joseph Gordon-Levitt. he could be wrong about this one too. JGL is playing Poison Ivy, by the way. He already tried a few wigs.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if this turned out to be true.
If they want a villain who's kind of unique to what people have seen so far, Metallo is perfect.
It's a new character for the screen annnnd it gets rid of the idea of having people randomly pull out a lil stone of Kryptonite.
A character made of the stuff is great way of approaching it.

Hmmm Joe Manganiello as John Corben/Metallo, that would schweeeeet!!

But yeah dude...your 'source' was wrong abut JGL.

Metallo I would prefer over Zod- at least it's something new. But generally speaking I'm tired of every single Superman film falling back on the use of Krytponite. It has become a major cop-out for the films. Metallo is POWERED by Kryptonite AND uses it against Superman almost as much as Luthor does if not more.

I would rather we get Brainiac in the film and I still think it'll be Brainiac.

Zack Snyder said that there would be another character in the movie that alot of people could refer to as a superman. Hmmmm...maybe he is talking about Metallo! Metallo is a human that was infused with Metal parts and a Kryptonite heart which makes him a SUPERMAN!

@ar8898 - also, take a look at the tentative title: "Man of Steel"....could be Metallo.

@l0rdleg0las- Hahaha I agree with you to some capacity. Cavill will be a great Superman but i was rooting for Joe ;D

Hopefully if Metallo IS the villain, they can put Joe in as him.

Then fans can watch Cavill vs. Manganiello LMAO!!!

@George97- Totally agreed, who cares who the villain is as long as Superman fights someone.

Sounds good, but I also like the idea of him playing Bizarro, since he was one of the top picks for Superman... Gotta wait to see if this is true or not.

Terry O'Quinn can make an awesome villain playing Lex Luther and I he is also a good choice.

Also for other villains who are hooked up to Lex Luther are Mercy Graves and John Corben (as himself METALLO)

I think Charlize Theron can make an awesome villainess playing Mercy Graves, like Cassidy Freeman played Tess Mercer in SMALLVILLE

I don't care who the villain is as long as they have good story and casting. This would be epic.

yeah...Joe playing Metallo would be a waste! don't get me wrong, i'm not dissing the part, it's just that joe is so much of a leading man material that he should get a super hero role, instead. i initially see him in only ONE perfect role which then was given to Henry Cavill. that's right. i see joe playing the man of steel himself.

i still see him doing so, but maybe in a future jla movie, with Ryan Reynolds as GL and Bradley Cooper as GA or Flash.

if not the big blue, then I agree...he may fit the role of Hawkman. he certainly got the physique for it.

as for Metallo...i prefer to see a really big star to play it, maybe Brad Pitt, or Leonardo DiCaprio, much like in the tradition of Jack Nicholson playing The Joker or Jim Carrey playing The Riddler.

I really want to believe the guy who posted this article is telling the truth. But his source...or i should say- lack-thereof is disappointing.

Metallo would be pretty cool actually.

The sheer idea of the film possibly having- Brainiac, Metallo AND Luthor is just sooooo EPIC.

Or even if not Brainiac. I can see a good film with Metallo as the main villain and Lex Luthor pulling the strings- that way we get 2 villains and that duo seems to make the most sense for an introductory film.

Metallo and Luthor would be great villains for the first film!!:D
I think Superman should first fight against a threat that comes from earth and threats to destroy Metropolis and in the sequels he should expand his territory and fight against a threat that threats to destroy whole world!
Bruno Mannheim and his Intergang should be secondary villains! Maybe John Corben should work in the Intergang or something when he is human? He could get in the accident when he is fighting against Superman with the power suit from Last Son of Krypton animation which is made by Luthor.
And in the end when Metallo is finished! Superman has proofs that takes Lex in the jail for a long time but when Supes goes to arrest him Lex has his powersuit and so begins the final battle between Luthor and Superman.
Superman wins of course after all and Lex goes to jail half dead. THE END.
Brainiac comes in part two!

My villain cast:
Gerard Butler or Michael Fassbender as John Corben (Thou i wouldnt mind Joe as him)

Billy Zane as Lex Luthor

Josh Brolin as Bruno Mannheim

@Hollywood- I'm certain you do believe what you heard/received from your 'anonymous source' but my only thing is...if the source is actually reliable. I remember another source some guy on here had code-named "Mr.Burbank" and if I remember, his info came out all wrong.

So your mention of the Burbank contacts doesn't impress me. But again, I know you aren't lying, I trust you. I just don't trust your sources, no offense. Again, it isn't your fault IF on the off-chance you are being fed false information. But I really HOPE your info is true. I would love to see Zack Snyder's take on Metallo and Luthor and even possibly...Brainiac.

Here's to hoping! ;D

You already have a pun in the subtitle of "Man of Steel" (which has not been debunked or confirmed yet).

I agree with the choices of Lex and Metallo and Intergang.
