MAN OF STEEL 2 Rumored To Be Taking Aim At A 2020 Release

There have been rumblings about a Man of Steel sequel for quite some time and according to one new report, Warner Bros. may be looking at bringing Superman back to the big screen two years from now...

There's still no official word on Man of Steel 2 but over the past year or so, we've heard that directors like Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman: The Golden Circle) and Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible - Fallout) may be considering taking the helm and Henry Cavill has repeatedly teased that there could be big news on the way for Superman fans. Could a new rumour reveal what that's going to be, though?

Well, take this with a pinch of salt for now but Mario-Francisco Robles claims that sources at Warner Bros.
has told him that the current plan is for the Man of Steel sequel to hit theaters in 2020. If true, that would mean the movie will need to start production late this year/early 2019 so we could end up getting some news at Comic-Con in July, especially as Warner Bros. can steal the show from Marvel.

Kevin Feige has already confirmed that they're giving the event a miss this year in order to let Avengers: Infinity War settle in so announcing a new Superman movie would definitely people talking. What do you guys think? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

@Ineedrevelation

If Chris McQuarry or Matt Vaughn direct it might as well be a reboot.

@Ineedrevelation - Either a reboot or a retcon of a few key past elements.

@Ineedrevelation - With DC's bad track record I prefer the Marvel rip offs. MCU at least knows how to make a decent film.

Yes. Announcing a new superman movie would DEFINITELY people talking.

@Origame - It would FINALLY mark a positive turn in the DC brand. That and the Dark Knight films would make the perfect foundation for a shared universe.

Yeah, well , we'll see. A great, modern Superman movie has pretty much always been one of my biggest wishes for the genre, but by now I'm halfway to just not caring all that much anymore.

@Kyos - They're definitely risking people not caring the longer they wait this out.

I hope so. I wanna see how Henry portrays Superman when he has a good director and writers and not Zack Snyder.

@TexasAvenger - My thoughts exactly. I think Cavill could be a phenomenal Superman under the right director. Problem is how much latitude can said director get under WB management. Probably why The Batman isn't progressing either. I'm sure Matt Reeves has to deal with ridiculous asks and unknowns from them and he won't start doing anything unless he's sure to have free reign over his movie.

TexasAvenger - 5/12/2018, 6:19 AM
@Asturgis - He has the look, but poor Henry's charisma and charm hasn't come through in his Superman performances. I think you're right about the Reeves situation cuz it's been a while and we haven't heard shit about Batman.

@Asturgis - Apparently Matt Reeves still hasn't sent in a treatment which was supposed to happen months ago, let alone a script.

@Asturgis - this is the main reason i dont want a reboot.i love most of the cast and especially cavill and cant imagine him not being superman

TheTick91
TheTick91 - 5/13/2018, 11:39 AM
@JustAChillFan - That's not being realistic. He just simply wish the movie will fail.

JustAChillFan - 5/13/2018, 12:50 PM
@Batman1991 - It has happened countless times now, it's a pattern, how is that not realistic. He also never said anything of his own wishes, just what he thinks WB is going to do, as they have done before.

I really can’t believe it will be 7 years by the time we get it. Cavill is so perfect for the role and he’s been squandered by exes who don’t realize how great he can be. I’m tired of the WB/DCEU drama. These are my favorite characters and I’m tired of seeing them wasted. Really hope he makes an appearance in Shazam. An Aquaman cameo would be nice too.

@valeriesghost - Superheroes may live forever, but our time is finite and there are too few movies released, for them to keep [frick]ing it up. In years to come they’ll have a good film with a Batman who isn’t well received, and everyone will look at the DCEU and say “We wasted the good Batman on you”.
