"Smallville" Season 10 - "Fortune" (How do we do?)

Smallville's 'Fortune" episode breaks away from the seriousness and provides good fun.

What if Superman drank champagne, passed out, and woke up in the morning with no recollection of what had happened the night before?
I’m sure he would have to turn on C.N.N. in order to see how much global havoc he might have caused. Has the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty changed spots? Are the great pyramids now circles?
For those Smallville fans that watched the latest episode entitled “Fortune”, we received a real treat as they broke away from the “Darkness” and created an episode that allowed us to witness the actors break out of character and provide some real fun.
Call it a “filler” episode, call it what you want. It was a pure joy to watch.
Tess Mercer singing on stage with Emil (dressed and Elvis) was a complete turn around from the proper and collected personalities that usually surround these characters.
Oliver Queen proved that he is not just a ladies man but can be a lady as well while dressing as a Showgirl in order to escape the clutches of Amos Fortune.

It was fun to watch these actors break out of character and completely let go.
Cassidy Freeman (Tess Mercer) is no stranger to the stage.
She was a singer in the band “The Real D’Coy”.

With only a few episodes remaining in this series, I am thankful that we could witness a celebration of sorts. With the constant pressure that has weighed on this series, I am sure that is was not hard for the actors to let loose.
The seriousness will continue next week, but I will always remember this episode as one of my favorites throughout the last ten years.

99% of all smallville episodes are comedy routines or is it just me that laughs at them.

this show must be destroyed & wiped from our memories like it never happened.

I have to disagree with you ubermensch, with only a few episodes left before this travesty goes away forever, they shouldn't be going off the reservation. There are too many storylines and arcs that need to be resolved. Instead they added a couple more at the end of the episode that will never be resolved (the Batman and Wonder Woman reference). The writers and producers promised the fans last summer that final season would be the one where they pulled out all the stops and threw in everything including the kitchen sink (their words) and aside from a couple of bright moments they have failed to deliver.

That being said, please forgive this whiney fanboy for voicing my continuous disappointment in this steaming pile of poo they call Smallville.

Grif...insert video here if you please.

And if I recall correctly, Hyblade, I wasn't one of them, so pardon me. You go be happy if you like and rejoice in mediocrity. No skin off of my nose.

@Hyblade- I think what you interpret as "whining" I interpret as people calling out Smallville for the steaming pile of SH!T that it is. Look I tried...REALLY HARD to keep loving Smallville but this season was such a major letdown. They pumped up this season to being soooo [frick]ing great and it just ended up being the usual sh!t. That is pathetic.

Fillers + Butchered characters from the comics + hack-writers = SMALLVILLE.

A fan can only stay a fan for so long for a show that just doesn't seem to give a flying [frick] about us. As for the butchered characters- Brainiac, Cyborg, Martian Manhunter Doomsday, Deathstroke, Deadshot, Darkseid...the list goes on. They made Deathstroke pathetic- he was old like in the comics, but he wasn't tough looking and he was NEVER even Deathstroke- apparently Smallville is too damn cheap to give Deathstroke and Deadshot their damn costumes (2 characters I'm a HUGE fan of too) Brainiac was never in his alien form. Cyborg was only cybernetic INTERNALLY, Manhunter was always in his human form (his alien form appeared only once and it even looked so [frick]ing lame- again because of Smallville's retarded budget) oh yeah and let's not forget their lame ass version of General Zod, the guy playing him just seems like a stupid douchebag. Don't get me started on Darkseid-cloud or oh sorry I meant- "The Darkness" STUPID ASS SH!T I swear!!! FU*K YOU SMALLVILLE FU*K YOU!!!!! Also apparently Darkseid will never gain a physical body- Lame excuse by LAME ASS SMALLVILLE for their LAME ASS BUDGET.

@Knightstalker- BRAVO for telling it like it is. I'm tempted to take that kitchen-sink and tossing it at the damn writers and the damned producers- Kelly and Brian.

Oh yeah and to end my tirade against Smallville...

STUPID ASS WELLING WON'T EVEN WEAR THE DAMN SUIT. What a prick.

@Knightstalker- Smallville made a new Batman reference? I remember they mentioned Gotham City one time...did they make a new reference?

@marvel72- Bravo to you as well good sir!

Thanks LP4, I wish I had room to list how many butchered characters they've used on that show. You hit the main points though, so I'm happy. So how do you think ol' Clarkie will defeat "The Darkness"? my guess is a magic Kryptonian Flashlight, kind of like his magic kryptonian phantom zone thing or Kara's Super-Wonder bracelet. Seriously, have the writers ever even read a comic book?

As for the Batman reference, at the end of last Friday's crapisode, Chloe told Clark that while she was gone at the beginning of the season, she met a billionaire with a lot of high tech toys (Batman) and a wondrous woman that will throw him for a loop. Like I said before, they're not closing out open story arcs like they should but opening up new ones with only a few crapisodes left before the finale. It's like the writers have become so accustomed to dangling the carrot and not delivering that they don't know how to do anything else. They're setting up for a season 11 that will never happen. Not a great way to treat their fans.

@Knightstalker- No problem buddy ;D

So those were the references? Stupid. They leave the door open and make us wanna see Batman and WW so badly yet the characters never even pop up. This is the main problem with Smallville- too many letdowns. And god the characters butchered is just the saddest thing of all. Smallville-fans always say- "well it's the beginning so the characters won't be EXACTLY like they are in the comics" That is the lamest excuse I swear.

And yeah that Batman and WW reference really make me wanna see those characters that will NEVER even appear.

Sad excuse of a show, when is it over??? lol

And yeah Knightstalker you're right. We can already predict how clark will beat "The Darkness" he won't even fight probably, it'll just take him a few seconds to whip out his little crystal or whatever and trap it in the phantom zone just like he did to nearly every villain that popped up on the show, heck might as well do that to Lex as well in the finale, might as well make the finale as brief and WEAK as humanly possible by trapping both in the phantom zone at the same time.

@ar8898- Another letdown viewer, don't worry...join the club ;D

Kind of funny how during last years comic-con episode with the warrior angel kid, Lois attended the convention dressed as Wonder Woman. Can you say "continuity error"?

This episode was dumb!!! I don't understand why people thought we needed a "let loose" episode. With all this talk of "the darkness" and "you are the light" it sounds like dialogue from the video game Kingdom Hearts, except the plot of that video game is 1000 times better than Smallville!

I am a fan of this show, but I think anyone who is blindly defending the recent crap is just flat out delusional.

And Smallville should be arrested for character rape. Sure they mess up their heroes a lot, but they do even worse with the villains. Mxyzptlk was dumb! Remember Parasite and Livewire? Of course you don't, because they did such a bad job!

And it is not funny to see a hot guy dress up in drag, especially when it was just flat out stupid! The Green Arrow should have been able to come up with a better escape plan, especially in the time it took to probably put on that makeup! Idiots!

I'm not sure if I will even miss this show...

Well I won't deny that the show is letting us down now, especially Collateral (WTF), but I'll take as many fun things from the show before it's over instead of pointing out its mistakes all the time.

Why so serious ? XD
