Still Plenty Of Secrets In MAN OF STEEL Says Screenwriter

A few more interesting tidbits and revelations from the latest issue of Total Film magazine which features interviews with Man of Steel's Zack Snyder, Henry Cavill and David Goyer.

Henry Cavil Zack Snyder Man of Steel
Zack Snyder on his interpretation of a character that many feel has become outdated in the current society.

"We've tried to make a Superman movie where he does stuff and you go, 'Yeah, if I was Superman, that's what I'd do.' Even though he's an alien, he's more relatable, more human."

Screenwriter David Goyer says there's [thankfully] a lot in the film that's still a secret.

"It's something Chris [Nolan] tried hard to do with the Batman films. I'm genuinely pleased with how much secrecy we've been able to maintain. There's so much of the movie that people don't know, that hadn't been touched upon. The trailer's just the tiniest, tiniest tip of the iceberg."

Goyer goes on to assure that this film is not a Christopher Nolan Batman film.

"Relatable and realistic doesn't necessarily mean dark. I think it would be inappropriate for us to approach a Superman film as if we were doing The Dark Knight. The Batman films are a lot more nihilistic; Superman has always been a story about hope."

As for Superman himself, Henry Cavill says the film is a nice blend of action and substance.

"Sometimes you want to watch a whiz-bang movie. Other times you want something introspective, that really provokes something inside. This hits a wonderful medium between the two."

There's tons more on Man of Steel in the latest issue of Total Film out now, which is out now on newstands. Man of Steel opens June 14th in the U.S. Is it your most anticipated film of the summer?

If I were Superman I'd use my x-ray vision for....things.

Believe me, I don't want to see Superman do the things I would do with those powers.

Any chance of a Brandon Routh cameo? It would be a great passing of the torch movie from Routh to Cavill.

More than likely, I will see this for my Bday(exactly a week from it's release) So I will probably stay away from this site or Superman articles at least, so nothing is spoiled.

After this movie, hopefully WB will get serious try to make Wonder Woman, The Flash, or even a World's Finest movie.

They should make an Aquaman film soon. I'm tired of waiting. Have Brandon Routh dye his hair blond and play Arthur. He would look totally badass.

With "superman returns" I had unrealistic expectations-
-loved X2/ loved bryan singer
- a revisionist donnerverse superman that ignored sup III and supIV

While I like SR I was very underwhelmed on first viewing.

With MOS (in reflection of decades of development hell for superman) I started at the bottom of the bottom of the bottom.

Since then I have been pleasantly surpised by the development of MOS-
Now I'm actually excited for it.
Its got a LOT of excellent ingrediants.

JorL5150 - 3/15/2013, 11:48 AM
I hope it really is amazing. Superman deserves it.

Id like to see them dust off that wolfgang peterson "asylum" (worlds finest) script and tweak it for MOSII and green light that wonder woman treatment joss whedon offered before going to direct the avengers.

That would get WB really in the game now that marvel has dominated for several years.
I've heard that green lantern's shooting script bore scant resemblence to the first/second drafts that were superior depictions of the character.
Maybe they could tweak that and bring in a john stewart or alan scott green lantern.

This article you posted TWO comments about Routh. SHUT UP ABOUT ROUTH
