First Full TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Review Reveals New Origins

The Wrap have posted their review of the upcoming TMNT movie, and given away the rebooted origins of the heroes in a half-shell and their rodent Sensei Splinter in the process. With the film coming out very soon you may not want to click on, but if you do, SPOILER WARNING obviously.

Fans have known (and made it very clear that they were not best pleased) about a new origin story for the awesome foursome since very early on in the movie's production. First it was rumored that they were going to be aliens, but even after that was shot down the first trailer made it very clear that we were in for a different telling. In that trailer, Eric Sachs (William Fichtner) seems to suggest that it was he and April O'Neil's (Megan Fox) father that were responsible for the creation of the four turtles, and in their review of the movie, The Wrap confirm as much..with a few extra revelations.

"In this telling, it turns out they were once April's pets, part of an experiment being conducted by her scientist father alongside industry mogul Eric Sachs (William Fichtner). During the mysterious fire that cost her father his life, young April set the four turtles and a rat free in the sewers, where they grew up into bi-pedal mutant creatures who studied the ways of the ninja."

Hmmm. So they bought a copy of "Teach Yourself Ninjitsu" then? Or, will they go with the IDW comic series' reincarnation angle? I haven't seen the movie yet so my concerns might be unfounded, but I'm not sure I like the sounds of that. Anyway, in the rest of their review (link below) The Wrap make mention of a few laughs and thrilling action sequences, but overall don't sound very positive about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at all. But it also doesn't sound like they were fans to begin with, so let's wait and see what Nate has to say about it a bit later on! more reviews should start coming in soon too, so we'll get a better idea of the general consensus.
